Software Engineer
ITT Visual Information Solutions provides integrated commercial software
solutions that help scientists, engineers, researchers and medical
professionals turn complex data into useful information. Our 150,000
customers from over 80 countries use IDL, ENVI and IAS to analyze data and
imagery and deploy imaging applications.
Our solutions are used in a variety of industries, including remote sensing,
engineering, earth sciences, aerospace and defense, medical imaging, oil and
gas exploration and biotechnology. Combined with a host of support services
including training, consulting and technical support, ITT Visual Information
Solutions offers the most complete data visualization and image analysis
solutions available.
We are seeking several innovative Software Engineers to join our IDL
(Interactive Data Language) and ENVI software development teams.
Responsibilities will include new development, ongoing enhancements and
maintenance of our cutting-edge commercial data analysis and visualization
tools. The candidate must be self-motivated, show strong personal
initiative and be results oriented. While the emphasis for this position
will be first a strong computer science background, any experience
developing algorithms mathematical analysis, or data specific access would
be a strong advantage to the candidate.
Required Minimum Skills and Qualifications
* Fundamental development skills with C/C++, Java, IDL, and/or MatLab
* Formal Computer Science background or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of modern software engineering methodologies
* Very strong work ethic and self-motivation; a desire to learn new
tools/technologies
* Strong written and oral communication skills and must work
constructively in a team environment.
* BA/BS or advance degree in Computer Science or other technical
discipline
Desired Skills and Qualifications
* Commercial applications development experience
* Experience with IDL and/or ENVI
* Knowledge of GIS/Geospatial concepts
* Experience with the challenges involved with large data set storage,
processing and delivery
