Epsilon - Database Administrator

About the Opportunity
The successful candidate must have 5+ years experience as a production Oracle DBA on UNIX/LINUX, with a proven track record in administrating large databases. Sr. Oracle DBA is expected to work in concert with DBA team members as well as other teams on supporting Oracle databases in a 24x7 environment, with rotating on-call duties after hours.

Responsibilities
Installation, configuration, migration and upgrading of Oracle databases, including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)

Perform database administration activities including monitoring, schema management, space management, capacity planning, performance tuning, SQL and PL/SQL tuning, database backup and recovery, data replication, and database refresh.

Evaluate new technologies and products.

Support production, development and QA databases.

Interacting with Oracle support to resolve issues.

Provide day-to-day support for users & application databases.

Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency of troubleshooting techniques and detail-oriented problem diagnosis.

Strong Oracle RAC performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.

Good understanding of the Oracle database, including RAC, related utilities and tools, including database regulatory compliance experience.

Experience in database change management through the various stages of the development life cycle.

Oracle 11g experience required.

Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) is required

Unix shell scripting, SQL & PL/SQL expertise required.

Experience with RMAN required.

Knowledge with ETL and Data warehouse technology

Data Guard/Stand by experience required.

Experience with Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM) is a plus

OCP certification is a plus

Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and TOAD is desirable.

Level 3 - IT Database Administrator

EchoStar Technologies is looking for a highly motivated individual to take full ownership of the on-premise cloud environment of the EchoStar OTT Services division. The successful candidate for our Staff Virtualization Engineer will have at least 4 years deep experience with the VMWare cloud product suite and 10 years of large scale web services experience. We are looking for a VMWare product and related technologies subject matter expert. Although the environment is very VMware-centric, familiarity with virtualization technologies from other vendors is a plus.

  *  Demonstrated working proficiency in SAN fabric management (ISLs, utilization, zoning, masking, etc.)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Database (DB) Developer II will be responsible for responding to ad hoc and project-driven database development requests as well as database user support activities. The DB Developer II plays an important role in the design, development and application of database standards, techniques, methodology, process management, tools and quality improvement initiatives. The DB Developer II will drive the continual tuning and improvement of DB structure and processes and should have proven success on large initiatives with extensive knowledge of SQL DB systems. The DB Developer II will be client facing and must have clear and concise communication skills.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Responsible for the design, development, and support of the MPS Database environment
•Works with business units to gather and understand requirements, rules and processes  as inputs for the design and architecture of MPS Database solutions
•Communicates status of projects, issues and solutions to project managers, software developers and project stakeholders
•Coordinates the design of database architecture  and integration solutions to meet the needs of MPS, and guides code/design reviews with the QA and Software Development teams
•Contributes to the definition, design and implementation of logical and physical data models
•Debugs, monitors, and troubleshoots the MPS database environment
•Participates in process improvement teams to identify and improve database development processes, and optimize performance of existing data structures
•Supports the design and implementation of data quality and data auditing processes
•Understands Technology Limitations/Features and sets expectations
•Increases knowledge (including new software and tools) through internal resources, company training, developer forums, external education and trade publications
•Has a general understanding of IT software development methodologies
•Accepts and completes assignments with an open, cooperative, positive, and team oriented attitude
•Contributes to process and systems documentation including best practices and standards; participates in knowledge sharing with the database team and project teams
•Identifies opportunities for indexes, identifies and implements indexes where appropriate
•Has a general understanding of database source control

•Actively participates in team meetings and 1 on 1 communications

QUALIFICATIONS 

•2-4  years of back-end application development using SQL, Stored Procedures, triggers, functions, indexes, synonyms, views, tables, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS.
•2-4 years of DBA experience with SQL Server databases including set up, performance enhancement, stored procedure development, storage hardware, migration and maintenance
•MySQL server development skills such as stored procedures, triggers, database creation, back-up, restore, database scripts, and database table creation
•2-4 years experience with MySQL: server tuning, query optimization, replication strategies, storage engines, monitoring, capacity planning, backup, HA, etc
•Additional experience with NoSQL and AmazonRDS is a plus 
•Microsoft certification (MCDBA, MCTS: SQL, MCSA, MCITP, MCM : SQL, MCA or other certification relevant to this job description) strongly desired.
•Familiarity with Agile project management methodology
•Strong written and verbal communications skills.
•Proven ability to work with developers, testers, and other through the product lifecycle.
•Able to learn and adapt to new technologies through self-directed training.

McKesson - Technical Support Engineer, Sr. Application Support Analyst

Position Description

The Technical Support Engineer provides technical support for McKesson products operating in a UNIX, Linux client/server environment with Oracle database systems.  Solutions are highly complex and considered mission-critical in the healthcare industry, requiring rapid resolution.  This will be supporting  the Horizon Clinicals interface products.

Responsible for providing technical, functional, and coding support to customer*s product support teams, field engineers or technicians who are diagnosing, troubleshooting and debugging highly technical or sophisticated software or computer systems.  Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to software engineering/ design engineering. May be involved in customer installation and training.  Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly  or complex or technical in nature.


Minimum Requirements
4+ years experience providing technical support to product support teams, field engineers and technicians.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Critical (must have) skills:

Strong understanding of UNIX, Linux system architecture and commands

Good working knowledge of SQL

Experience with relational databases

The Sr Database Administrator will work as part of a global team to provide production and development database administration support for all Oracle-based corporate databases and Oracle Application 11i environments.

Requirements: 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge, skill and experience with current programming technology, such as database integration (MS SQL SERVER), client/server technology or cloud computing. Specific application knowledge may include but is not limited to: Accela and EDMS.

• Skills to design, test, document and implement applications either working with a vendor or with development staff.

• Knowledge to analyze and recommend business solutions to meet County automation needs.

• Must have the ability to be a business partner with IT’s customers.  Must be customer centric.  Solves requests or issues rather than providing a service.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is desirable. Continued information technology course work desirable.

EXPERIENCE:
Six (6) to seven (7) years of experience working with application development.
(An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient).
