- Deploying daily installs during development

- Verifying the installed components



Additional responsibilities include fixing simple errors related to the build and install process as well as identifying the resources needed to fix problems outside of the build, install and machine configuration scope. At the end of a development cycle, you will be responsible for creating production release disks and distributing those disks to our field engineering department. Occasional production release support will be necessary.

Medical Simulation Corporation (MSC) develops high-tech simulation training programs used by doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. MSC has been providing quality training for more than 10 years and is currently the worldwide leader in endovascular and cardiac simulation training. MSC provides quality training programs using high-end Windows PCs paired with custom hardware. These simulation-based training programs are developed in-house using C++ with an emphasis on solid OO design. Technologies used in the gaming industry are incorporated in order to provide realistic patient anatomies and physics.

About the Position

Software Build Administrator: The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee daily software builds for multiple ongoing projects. Our software is built in a Windows environment using Visual Studio and automated by CruiseControl. The code is primarily C++ with some C# and other technologies.

The primary duties of this position include:
- Monitoring the automated build process
- Deploying daily installs during development
- Verifying the installed components

Additional responsibilities include fixing simple errors related to the build and install process as well as identifying the resources needed to fix problems outside of the build, install and machine configuration scope. At the end of a development cycle, you will be responsible for creating production release disks and distributing those disks to our field engineering department. Occasional production release support will be necessary.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring high quality software
implementations in an agile environment using an iterative approach.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hands-on tester that is very
independent and has a strong personality. Additionally, the ideal
candidate has excellent communication skills, strong time management
and task prioritization skills.

The Local Matters Quality Assurance organization has combined
FitNesse and Selenium Remote Control to form the foundation of our
automated smoke and regression approach. Therefore each tester is
required to generate XPath expressions for each test. We write all
test cases in the FitNesse wiki, using our automated format,
regardless of whether individual tests are to be executed manually
or automated. Thus, converting a test from manual to automated
requires very little work.

The primary responsibility of this role is black box testing -
including functional, integration, system, regression, and
acceptance testing. The candidate will be responsible for designing
and implementing test cases using a risk-based approach, preparing
test data, executing tests (both manual and automated), and
reviewing and evaluating test results.

The ideal candidate is comfortable:
• Writing XPath.
• Testing all tiers of a system – GUI, middle tier and backend.
• Deploying software builds in the test environment.
• Creating data in various formats including XML and SQL.
• Querying a search index.
• Working on 2-4 projects concurrently.
• Working in a fast-paced environment; Total testing time (test case
writing through handoff to production) is often as little as 3
weeks.

Test and QA responsibilities include comprehensive testing of web
based local search solutions.

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, administration, tuning, and optimization of UNIX/Linux and Windows servers and related software and components to achieve highly available and high performance applications and services. Also to perform required technical tasks to provide timely and quality service to the various user communities. Creates complete and accurate call history using an on-line Help Desk management system and/or logs, checklists, and other approved tracking mechanism.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Coordinate with network administration, business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of UNIX systems to meet business demands.
• Responsible for the installation, configuration, and daily maintenance of UNIX/Linux and Windows servers and networks.
• Monitor and test system performance to provide performance statistics and reports for tuning and capacity planning purposes.
• Perform file system configuration and management. Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures.
• Generates and maintain different types of documentation, and procedures as part of general systems support. Also have a strong knowledge of several scripting languages (shell, perl, tcl, etc.) and creation of automated tools.

• Responsible for suggesting methods to improve areas of operations, processes, efficiency, and service to the various customers groups.
• Coordinates with different IT teams in the schedule and implementation of periodic maintenance of systems hardware and software. Including, but not limited to, new OS releases and vendor supplied patches, hardware upgrades, and system drivers.
• Coordinates with outside vendors on activities related to his/her specialty, and closely works with vendor personnel to assure timely and accurate completion of specific tasks or projects.
• Support software developers through the different development phases.
• Conduct research on new technologies, hardware, and products in support of procurement and system development efforts. Prepare and present recommendations and justifications on major hardware and software purchase.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor degree in Computer or Technical related science or equivalent work experience.
• 8 plus years of experience in UNIX/Linux and Windows systems analysis and administration.
• At least 10 years professional experience in an IT role

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE

• Experience working in a high availability, high visibility production support environment.
• Hands-on experience on hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Experience with high-end storage devices SAN/NAS.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, database administration, and network hardware and standards.
• Understanding of High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts as they relate to Open Systems architecture.
• Have excellent communication skills. In the area of spoken communication, the proper use of grammar, clear articulation of ideas, diction, and general business knowledge. Written communication to be clear and concise.
