Great-West Life - Team Lead

Great-West Life Financial Services is currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Team Leader with QA/Business Systems Analyst experience to join a large systems department.

This position is a working Team Lead initially supervising a staff of three (3) for the Data Services Reporting team. This will include managing projects that formulate, define, and document system/application scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify simple to highly complex reporting applications in support of the financial services division.

This role will perform quality assurance functions including testing computer applications developed across multiple languages to ensure software quality and data reporting integrity. We are looking for a Team Leader experienced in QA testing of data files and reports.

Additionally, you will perform business analysis functions, evaluating the requirements received from the business area, determining the impact to the system, and developing written business specifications to be used for the design, development and the testing process.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum six (6) years experience including at least two (2) years experience leading projects while being accountable for team performance and directly managing people.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience. Master's degree in related systems or business field is strongly desired.
Business Analysis experience
Strong background in testing user interface applications
Strong Oracle and PL/SQL skills.
Experience with HP Application Lifecycle Management Quality Center strongly desired
Experience with testing Business Object applications (e.g. Crystal Reports and Data Integrator)
Additional experience desired:
Project Management skills, preferably with Planview.
Understanding of System Development Project Lifecycle

Management Responsibilities:
Leads key portions of the system development lifecycle including gathering, documenting and analyzing requirements for highly complex, multi-platform applications. Maintains documentation, project tracking, and key stakeholder reporting metrics.
Leads team that provides day to day support to existing reporting applications and troubleshoot system/application performance issues as they arise. Assigns resources to determine and ensure resolution to system/application problems as necessary.
Acts as the primary liaison between key business area and systems teams and communicates project feasibility, status and issues to key stakeholders. Position will have regular interaction with business leaders.
Assigns work and resources to subordinates to achieve productivity, service, and quality standards. Administers and executes policies and procedures typically affecting subordinates. Has limited authority to make exceptions to policy and procedures. Makes decisions on pay, performance, appraisals, work schedules, discipline and hiring.
Responsible for the quarterly planning of Business Plan projects for the team and reporting status and results to management.

QA Responsibilities:
Produces test plans by reviewing business specifications and determining test cases in order to ensure thorough testing of applications/transactions.
Sets up and maintains test data by utilizing technical tools (e.g. SQL, TOAD, UNIX) in order to facilitate efficiency and accuracy of testing.
Performs functional, integration and regression testing by executing Web applications or Oracle 10g Forms Interface and batch transactions.

Business Analyst tasks include:
Working with the business area to understand and analyze requirements for feasibility and functionality.
Assisting in determining impact to system for the change being requested and lead discussions for possible future needs.
Analyzing data relationships through entity relationship diagrams and making suggestions/lead projects for improvements.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Designs, develops and coordinates disaster recovery and high availability strategies, supporting technology reference architectures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provides subject matter expertise in the design, implementation and fail over testing (end to end) of disaster recovery solutions.
- Collaborates with infrastructure and application architects to define solution requirements for recovery environments.
- Develops reusable disaster recovery collateral, standards and best practices. Evaluates new technologies and capabilities and make recommendations.
- Participates in disaster recovery planning assessments, program and strategy development, deployment and fail-over testing activities.
- Develops and maintains disaster recovery guidelines, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, measurement, monitoring and reporting criteria.
- Work collaboratively with Business, Functional, Development & Operational teams to gather & document requirements for Disaster Recovery.
- Define & document technical integrations for DR.
- Work across teams to provide input to DR implementation from infrastructure build-out to test/validation to cutover simulation.
- Work with the infrastructure and environment team on procurement & provide documentation for the procurement process.
- Work closely with the DR Project Manager to track & status tasks to completion.
-Design, plan, implement, administer, control, and generally provide support and optimization of SAN and pooled storage systems, in partnership with other teams and functions throughout the IT department.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


EXPERIENCE
•    Minimum of five (5) years architectural environment experience including three (3) in planning and implementation of disaster recovery solutions with fail over testing (end to end).
•    Proficient in infrastructure technology areas including: server hardware, operating systems, networking, storage, virtualization, database replication, automation and cloud architecture.
•    Experience with Financial Institution processes
•    Understanding of disaster recovery processes including planning, design and implementation
•    Must have experience in virtualizing and managing IT infrastructures utilizing VMware and VMware vSphere management tools
•    Experience implementing one or more of the following: Dell/Compellent storage subsystems; EMC CLARiiON and CX storage subsystems
•    Experience in one or more areas including Brocade, Cisco and McData Fibre-channel switches in SAN environments
•    Must have a general understanding of Microsoft Windows, networking and peripheral technologies
Experience with Symantec Netback de-duplication processes and tape libraries or other similar backup technology
•    Detail-oriented, creative problem solver with superior organization skills
•    Proficient with Microsoft technologies such as Forefront TMG, Exchange 2007/2010, Windows Server 2003/2008 R2, SQL Server 2005/2008
