SquareTrade - QA Engineer

We are looking for a talented, energetic Software Quality Engineer to lead our SQA team working with our Merchant Integration engineers in Denver.

He/She will work closely with product , marketing and operations team to understand requirements and create, execute, manage and report test plans, test cases and test reports. Should have good understanding of SDLC, and Software Quality Life Cycle, Agile/Scrum procedures and processes. Must be able to work with product and engineering partners on large projects with no supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Own SQA activities for scrum team and drive scoping, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling test activities
-Collaborate with development and architecture teams to influence the architecture and design of software and help bring quality into the design of the product
-Work closely with product, marketing and developers to understand requirements and create detailed use cases, test cases, test plans and identify risks
-Create and maintain test suites for functional, regression, acceptance and UAT testing
-Work with automation team in identifying key areas to automate and develop test suites
-Responsible for functional, integration, data integrity, regression, security, sanity and UAT in order to ensure quality of code before releasing to production
-Create detailed bug reports by performing root cause analysis and work with architecture, development and product teams to prioritize them
-Liaison between product, development and SQA teams to enforce SQA standards and best practices to deliver quality code.
-Provide sprint & release test reports, metrics
-Understand deployment scenarios and manage deployment to test environments

REQUIREMENTS:

-BS in Computer Science or relevant experience with emphasis on Quality Assurance
-At least 10 years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer
-At least 5 years of experience working with 3-tier client (server based)
-At least 4 year of experience in Agile environment along with exposure to Agile tools
-At least 2 years of experience as a team lead -- requirements review, develop test strategy and test plans, execution, automation strategy, reports
-Developing and executing test plans for REST APIs

DESIRED SKILLS

-Giit, Jira, Jenkins/Hudson, Selenium/Watir, TestNG/Junit, Gradle
-E-commerce domain experience
-Experience with REST services
-Mobile testing - android and iOS

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with others to determine and deploy database solutions to business-prioritized requirements, including business continuance and information security along with functional requirements.
• Install, configure, and test new PostgreSQL databases, perform version upgrades of existing databases.
• Install, upgrade and maintain all PostgreSQL-related server and administration software.
• Perform DB profiling and optimization; analyze and propose schema changes to PostgreSQL databases as needed.
• Proactively monitor activity, utilization, exceptions and database health; propose and deploy appropriate improvements; automate repetitive tasks.
• Collaborate with Operation team members to create, publish and maintain database deployment methods and procedures for PostgreSQL databases.
• Collaborate with the Engineering to create and maintain database technology roadmaps and recommend improvements to service being developed.
• Perform database backup and recovery duties; establish standards and schedules for database backups; develop and routinely test recovery procedures for each database; ensure that backup schedules meet the recovery requirements and conforms to all database and data quality policies and standards.
• Provide support to Operation on-call staff as needed.
• Implement and maintain archival and high availability strategies.
Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience performing PostgreSQL administration in a production environment
• Experience should include three or more years of database administration in an enterprise level environment

Preferred Qualifications:
• Exceptional knowledge of the PostgreSQL database platform
• Mastery of physical database design
• Expertise in configuring, implementing and supporting high availability strategies with database systems including clustering, and replication
• Experience in with at least on scripting language such as Python, Bash, or similar
• Solution focused and methodical, careful attention to detail
• Solid background using UNIX operating systems such as Ubuntu Linux administration a plus‎
