SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Applies excellent technical skills, within an existing framework of
configuration management, tools, processes, strategies, and
standards, to provide build and deployment capabilities across all
lifecycle environments, including development, test, and production.

The Build and Release Engineer will possess the ability to exercise
judgment within broadly defined SCM policies and practices to
identify and implement methods, techniques, and tools that will
provide a robust build and deployment infrastructure for several
applications and projects in varying stages of development.

The Build and Release Engineer is expected to have expertise using
Ant and other build-time tools and scripting languages to build and
deploy Java and .NET applications. In addition, the candidate should
have experience with various technologies including J2EE and Web
Services. The candidate will also have experience building,
configuring, and deploying systems using Ant and other tools.

The Build and Release Engineer will work closely with the
development, QA, IT, and management teams, and must have a
demonstrated ability of working both independently and
collaboratively.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a high-
quality, cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX) system that
provides a predictable, repeatable build, release, and deployment
capabilities for Java and .NET projects of significant complexity

· Provide technical expertise in the areas of builds,
configuration, and deployment of applications

· Optimize build and deployment processes for increased
efficiency

· Review, define, and document SCM processes, procedures,
training, and other materials

· Act as a mentor to development teams regarding SCM
procedures, processes, and tools throughout the application lifecycle

· Implement and execute tests to verify proper function and
behavior

· Work with a technical writer to develop user documentation
and help document all changes and additions to products and tools

· Work under the guidance and direction of a technical lead or
manager

· Assist co-workers and customers with technical issues and
problem investigation

· Estimate time and resources required to complete assigned
tasks

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· 2+ years of experience writing build and deployment systems
using Ant

· Strong Ant and Java skills

· Experience with Windows and Unix / Linux

· Experience developing, building, packaging, and deploying
complex applications

· Experience with continuous integration environments

· Experience with version control tools, specifically
Subversion

· Experience with installation products, specifically
InstallAnywhere and InstallShield

· Understanding of source code locking, branching, and merging
strategies.

· Experience with scripting languages

· Experience with application servers

· High motivation and commitment

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to work independently as well as be a team player

· Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly

· Experience with Bamboo, Fisheye, Crucible, Clover, and JIRA
