We seek a Sr DBA with the ability to thrive in a fast paced envrionment at a Fortune 250 Company!

Create and maintain the Dish Network database environment(s) with emphasis on uptime, consistency, scalability and performance.

Applicant will be responsible for enterprise database administration including:

1) Ensuring database availability, performance and continuance

2) Designing, implementing and monitoring database backup and recovery processes

3) Implementing performance optimization techniques of Oracle Server databases on UNIX and NT platforms

4) Providing periodic reviews of database performance and monitoring levels

5) Devising solutions to operational challenges of multiple database deployment

6) Designing, testing and documenting upgrades of current database environments

7) Facilitating customer negotiations and maintaining excellence in customer relationships

8) Providing training and mentoring of other Oracle Database Administrators

9) Providing 24/7 on-call support for all Oracle databases

Applicant will also perform standard and advanced DB administration duties, which include but are not limited to, installation, monitoring, backup and recovery and tuning. Maintains uptime, consistency, scalability and performance while meeting business needs and working effectively with a DB Administrators team. Will complete tasks in a timely manner by working effectively with DB Administrators, System Administrators, Programmers and Analysts. Maintain current working knowledge of the technical and business environment through initiative and direction from senior staff and/or piers. Mentor all team members. Participate effectively on team and enterprise projects. Provide technical leadership for interfacing with system administrators, technical managers and architects. Demonstrate leadership through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills and professionalism. Update SOX process documentation quarterly as required, complete quarterly SPOQ questionnaires as required and perform/monitor required SOX controls as described in Tutor documentation.

Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science or MIS/CIS) and 6-9 years of relevant IT experience (5-7 years DB administration) is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Applicant must have experience with Oracle 10g/9i/8.x production support and administration. Demonstrated experience in the areas of hardware devices, operating systems, databases and how they interrelate. Working understanding of system structures and commands (TCP/IP, DNS, RAID, RMAN). UNIX/NT shell scripting hands-on experience and/or other languages (Perl, SQL, PL/SQL, C, C++, etc.) Plus: development, system administration, SQL tuning, data modeling, VLDB, data warehouse and architecture experience.

Applicant must have a strong technical aptitude, strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently. Applicant must posses the ability to apply technical knowledge, communicate ideas, and leverage interpersonal and/or business skills. Applicant should be skilled in prioritizing client requirements, determining concise implementations, and generating complete and coherent documentation. Applicant must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, peers and customers. Applicant must also show the ability and motivation to learn quickly and be successful in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures or government policy. Should be able to write reports/correspondence/procedure manuals, present information and respond to questions from managers/customers/general public. Mathematical skills include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning ability consists of the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
