cable television industry. Engineers, entrepreneurs, developers and
strategists work at our world-class laboratory located in Louisville,
Colorado to help shape technologies that are driving the data, voice
and video communications standards of the future. We are well-known
for our many achievements in advanced network design, broadband,
Voice over Internet Protocol and next generation digital video,
because of the high caliber of our culture of determining and
establishing the new technology trends that impact consumers
throughout the world.

CableLabs has a contract opening for a Software Developer to assist
our team at our Louisville, Colorado facility. This contract
position is for approximately four months commencing ASAP.

Specifically, the Consultant SHALL:
Establish two separate communities (tru2way and ETV) which
will serve as the support portal(s) for interactive TV application
developers.

Identify and research successful community sites supporting
other industries (mobile, etc.) to serve as benchmarks.

Administer the Community sites in a technical capacity
including answering inquiries and moderating technical discussion
forums. Collaborate with Project Director, Business Relations,
OpenCable, to write technical contributions for ongoing Community
blogs and other public communications regarding the tru2way
initiative.

Indentify tools and resources that would be helpful for third
party application developers; work with CableLabs staff or vendors to
offer these tools and resources on the appropriate Community site.

Provide technical guidance to interactive TV vendors and
application developers who wish to associate their products with the
CableLabs-administered Communities.

Work closely with the tru2way and ETV Project Architects to
ensure that all work-in-process enhancements are made publicly
available to application developers.

Support distribution and deployment of ETV and tru2way
Reference Implementations.

Act as primary liaison with Sun Microsystems. Support Sun-
related events such as Mobile & Embedded Developer Days.

Provide technical expertise to regularly scheduled OpenCable
InterOp events.

Skill Set Required:
1. Website / HTML authoring experience; familiarity with Sun
Microsystem's Java.net site's functionality and editing tools.
2. OpenSource tool familiarity (ANT, GNU, JIRA)
3. Working knowledge of Java software as it relates to the
OpenCable Applications Platform specification.
4. ETV/EBIF experience desirable.
5. Cable experience desirable.
6. Demonstrated communication skills; ability to work in a team
environment.
7. Ability to perform most of the work on-site during regular
business hours at CableLabs in Louisville, CO.

Location
This effort will take place on site at CableLabs facility in
Louisville, CO. Consultant is expected to provide their own
development machine.

1) Software application as described above
2) Source code and binary application
3) Documentation to support the application
