Trimble Hosting Services (THS) provides hosting and managed services for the application solutions and services of multiple Trimble business units that are the customers of THS. The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting and operating the production and engineering global IP network infrastructure for the Trimble Hosting Services. The responsibility includes mobile device, private, and Internet connectivity across multiple data centers. Support activities include maintenance and troubleshooting of firewalls, routers, load balancers, and switches and implementation of new circuits, VPN's, and routes to build out new nodes in the global network.
Primary Duties: The Network Engineer will perform a variety of duties to fulfill this role: • Design, implement, test and support IP Network changes and new data center interconnects using Frame Relay, VPN, MPLS and other links between data centers, wireless carriers and customers. • Monitor network equipment operation and utilization. • Optimize the performance, redundancy and cost of the global IP Network. • Plan and carry out deployment projects for new carriers, data centers and unique customer implementations. • Provide 24x7 support and perform troubleshooting for the IP Network. • Manage network security with Cisco firewalls, IDS, and IPS modules and ACS Servers. • Manage and resolve complex problems involving interaction between server hardware, mobile device hardware, applications and IP networks by working with hardware developers, software developers, equipment vendors and customers. • Work with wired and wireless data network providers to debug and resolve customer affecting service issues. • Write and perform end-to-end system test procedures particularly related to testing the wireless device interaction with new hardware and software product features. • Perform a variety of related duties and tasks as required to support the network, hosts, and applications as an integrated system.

Position Requirements: • The candidate should have a BS or equivalent in a computer engineering related field and 5-8 years of experience in design and implementation of IP network switching, routing, and security using Cisco equipment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification is desired. • Ability to solve complex problems. • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Wide Area Networks with MPLS, VPN's and dedicated circuits. • Experience with operational details of GPRS and other wireless networks are desired. • Strong project management skills and ability to solve complex problems. • Highly motivated and self-directed. • Experience supporting and managing Windows, Solaris and Linux hosts is desired. • Ability to travel (national and international) for about 1 week every 3 or 4 months. • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 35lb.
