Return Path - UI Engineer, PHP Web Developer, C# Engineer

As a User Interface Engineer, you will contribute to the user interface design efforts for Return Path's suite of web-based tools. As an important member of our growing product development team, you will work closely with software engineers, web developers, product managers and others to design clean, highly usable web interfaces. You will also work on improving the look and feel and usability of our existing tools, and contributing ideas, designs, wireframes and mockups for new product initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

- Establish a consistent look and feel throughout our web applications.
- Work collaboratively with product management, marketing and sales to turn ideas into highly usable interfaces.
- Work collaboratively with the product development team to turn wireframes, mockups and templates into working web applications.
- Consult with and assist development projects with UI design, usability advice, user interaction design, information architecture.
- Establish best practices for web usability, HTML coding standards, global styles, and help educate others in the product development team of those best practices.
- Understand usage patterns of our tools, track and measure usage and optimize user interfaces based on usage patterns with the goal of increasing usage of key parts of our tools.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

- At least 5 years professional web design experience.
- Experience designing web applications, not just web sites.
- Strong design sense, interest in color, layout, typography.
- Experience with user interaction design and information architecture.
- Expert understanding of HTML DOM, CSS, XHTML.
- Ability to hand-code HTML if necessary.
- Strong image-editing skills (Photoshop or related).
- JavaScript experience a plus.
- PHP experience a plus, but not required.
- Recent history of working on teams with at least 2 other people, genuinely enjoy working on teams and collaboration in problem solving.

As Web Developer at Return Path you will be building the next generation of web-based tools to solve the most pressing challenges in the email industry. What We're Looking For:
- 3-5 years recent professional software development experience, primarily focused on PHP
- Advanced knowledge in web technologies including JavaScript, CSS and HTML
- Strong SQL skills
- A passion for usability and building awesome interfaces
- Knowledge of email technology a plus, e.g. SMTP, DKIM, MIME
-You're comfortable owning a project, wearing many hats to get the job done
- You'd rather spend your time solving problems than architecting systems
- You are interested in working in an agile environment

We're looking for a top-notch performer to join the Return Path development team and solve new problems automating websites, desktop applications, and mobile devices which we don't necessarily have any internal control over (think you're good at developing fault tolerant systems? we've got a couple of challenges for you. )

As part of the development team you will be challenged to break ground in automating email clients and developing systems to provide feedback for email designers.

- We don't throw code over the wall – we work continuously with other members of the technology department and other business groups, to resolve development/production issues as they occur, refine and improve existing products, and define and clarify requirements for new products.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

- Overall you have 1-5 years recent professional software development.
- A versatile programmer with significant experience in C#, HTML and JavaScript.
- XPath and CSS Selector familiarity will save you.
- Experience with Selenium or WebDriver would be helpful.
- Familiarity with Windows automation and MSHTML would be nice.
- Some knowledge and experience with PERL, PHP, Java, Unix Systems, or shell scripting would be a plus.
- Some SQL skills, Oracle PL/SQL would also be a plus.
- You have a strong sense of end to end ownership and drive to complete a project.
- You genuinely care about the success of the business and the team.
- You are interested in working in an agile environment.
- BS/BA Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
