software solutions that automatically incorporate medical vocabulary and
coding standards into healthcare information technology (HCIT)
applications. HLI's Language Engine(r) (LE(r)) allows centralized
access to medical terminology standards and generates mappings to create
a common pool of standardized codes and concepts that enhance patient
safety, facilitate clinical outcomes analysis and accelerate
reimbursement.

vendors, RHIOs and large healthcare institutions in payor and provider
markets, clinical content providers, and national governments. Health

Medical Informaticist



Job Summary: Health Language is currently seeking a Medical
Informaticist to add to its growing Content Department. The Medical
Informaticist will work with the Director of Medical Informatics to
ensure the proper evaluation and development of content projects and
deliverables. This position offers a unique opportunity for the health
information professional to work within a team that creates medical
content for products deployed to payers and providers.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Work with HLI Content team on the creation and maintenance of
medical terminologies in the HLI product database, including the
development of concept mappings between terminologies. Terminologies
include clinical ontologies such as SNOMED, and administrative
classifications such as ICD, HCPCS, etc.

* Participate and expand the processes to manage the update of
terminologies and mappings including QA testing.

* Work with HLI Content Engineers to include new terminologies
in the HLI product. This work will include manipulation of content sets
using such tools as SQL, XML, and associated supporting tools.

* Perform analysis and testing of content using the HLI tools
which are GUI and API based.

* Design software requirement documents for tools needed by the
Content team as well as for new features needed in HLI products.

* Conduct terminology training classes for clients in the US,
UK, and other Asia-Pacific countries.

* Assist the client services department with content issues
raised by current and potential customers.

* Represent HLI in sales presentation and workshops around the
world.

* Facilitate terminology implementation with global client base.



Reports To: Director of Medical Informatics



Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics:

* Bachelors degree required; advance degree preferred

* Formal training or industry experience in medical informatics,
required

* Experience with Java and SQL queries, required

* Actual clinical practice such as medical or nursing
experience, preferred

* Familiarity with terminologies used in healthcare, preferred

* Experience or training in content modeling, preferred

* Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office

* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

* Strong organizational skills

* Strong team-work focus

* Must be able to manage timelines and multiple projects

* Proactive problem solving skills
