The Oracle / MS SQL Database Senior is responsible for Oracle and SQL databases throughout the organization. This position will work with other business units to provide solid database services to the applications.
Typical Responsibilities


Participate as a Database Administration team member providing broad array of database administration work consisting of but not limiting to database installations and upgrade, security, backup and recovery, tuning applications and databases, monitoring performance, managing indexes, patching and upgrades, using project management processes and our in-house ITSM Change and Release processes (similar to ITIL).

Handle high pressure incidents, coordinating unscheduled activities, during business and non-business hours.

Plan, organize, and prioritize effectively, including managing time effectively and paying close attention to details.

Participate in large enterprise projects providing DBA representation for successful delivery of the software solutions.

Write, review, and edit database documentation, including data standards, processes, procedures, and strategies.

Conduct research on database technical issues.

Install and test new versions of the database management systems including database infrastructure components that support the database environments.

Demonstrate good judgment in evaluation and decision making and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.


Please note: this position requires rotating on-call support.

Experience and Education: While you probably have at least 5 years of experience in database administration, we’re most interested in your professional experience and specific accomplishments in the following areas (please highlight these in your resume/application):

Knowledge of various application hardware devices, operating systems, storage units, and networks such as the following: Sun/Solaris operating system, LINUX and Windows OS, PL/SQL, OLTP/DSS Design and Tuning, Oracle, RAC, Dataguard, SQL Developer, shell scripting, MS Active Directory, Oracle Grid Control, SQL Server, SQL Studio, Snapshots, and TCL scripting.

Ability to monitor and tune both Oracle (10g or higher) and MS SQL Server (2005 or higher) databases

Working knowledge of database administration including state-of-the-art concepts/design/deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning, structured query language, relational database design techniques, RDBMS-specific middleware tools, and cross-platform networking in a TCP/IP environment.

Strong communication skills, including facilitation, customer service, and relationship development skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.

MS SQL Server (MCTS, MCITP or MCM) or Oracle (OCA, OCP or OCM) certifications preferred.
