Position Overview

Responsible for designs, installs, maintains and upgrades development, test and production databases using expertise in database administration, database monitoring, tuning, logical data modeling, and physical database design for Oracle. Successful candidate understands the principles, theories, practices and techniques of the systems development life cycle, database design, routine maintenance, process scheduling, security, and backup/recovery. This position is accountable for the overall performance of the enterprise's database environments. Works closely with multiple departments including application developers to define and resolve information flow and content issues.

Essential Functions

Responsible for basic management and support of high performance and highly available database platforms and systems. Managing multiple Production, Development and Test Oracle database environments of different releases. Proactively monitors the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.

Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of Oracle development including code reviews to ensure that developed database code is in compliance with the Cricket standards. Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to CCB

Responsible for Oracle database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum performance. Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that is the backbone for Cricket's success.

Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of database instances including backup and recovery

Produces reports and queries on ad hoc basis. Validates the findings and results against requirements and ensures proper scope and access to data. Confirms and documents positive destruction of obsolete data.

Education:

Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, technical discipline, or relative work experience

Plan, design and implement system management tools to help Engineering and Operations organizations supervise and manage WildBlue’s network. Development of such tools require interfacing with various Access Network equipment, Data Communication equipment, Satellite Telemetry & Control systems, RF Monitoring systems, Service Provisioning systems, Network and Element Management systems and Databases.

Work with other engineering team members in establishing benchmarks, metrics and procedures for evaluating system level performance for WildBlue network and services. Develop tools that simulate/emulate WildBlue network. Run performance test in simulated, emulated and real-world environments to evaluate and compare system performance.

Participate in the design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of complex web user interfaces for a variety of applications.

Develop tools and processes to help maintain and manage WildBlue Satellite Gateway Earth Stations as well as various laboratories and field test platforms used for functionality and performance validation.

Automate, in a variety of scripting languages, standardized Test Procedures that are used repeatedly for functionality and performance validation of new hardware and software releases from equipment vendors.

Define, implement and maintain development and quality- assurance environments for the tools including the Sun/Windows servers, software development tools and databases.

Assist the Technical Operations organization in troubleshooting and resolving problems with tools and systems in real time. The person shall be able to handle escalations from Network Operations Center on 24x7 basis.



Experience/Skills Required


Must have specific experience with a scripting language (Expect/Tcl, Perl, Python, Shell). Must have specific experience with CGI, JavaScript, DOM and Web Based application development frameworks. Must have prior experience with Object Oriented Design and programming in C, C++ and Java.

Experience in interactive web user interface design and implementation Required, including browser side Javascript, dynamic HTML generation, AJAX, JSON, Dreamweaver, CSS and "Web 2.0" technologies. Familiarity or experience with emerging HTML 5 standards and technology is a plus

Ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing support environment, contributing inventive ideas and creative thinking to aid the development of your support product and team, as well as be an agent of change and positive influence, toward building the GSS related foundation for supported software products through their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:
* Provide level 1 through level 3 technical assistance in analyzing, diagnosing, replicating and troubleshooting customers reported issues to resolution on Alive Enterprise technology.
* Manage assigned support incidents and maintain up-to-date status in the Support Console
* Escalate unresolved issues that require more in-depth knowledge to engineering in a timely manner
* Create reproducible test cases, when necessary, for customer reported issues
* Report and submit product defects in the bug tracking system
* Create new knowledgebase articles and keep them up-to-date
* Provide after business hour support on a rotation basis

Qualifications:
* Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science or related field of studies
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
* Windows and Unix OS
* Databases, preferably SQL Server and/or Oracle
* Read and understand log and config files
* Support, QA, training or field experience with enterprise software, preferably monitoring and/or performance suites, or DevOps, or system administration experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience creating documentation, procedures, and knowledge base entries
* Optional, ability to read and understand code, preferably Java and/or C++
