TIAA-CREF - Operational Support

Job Description
Production, User and Operational Support of Java/Oracle applications.
Provide second tier support for application outages, restoring service by working with IT Infrastructure groups and ensuring application availability SLAs are maintained.
Resolve application incidents reported by the user community within the required timeframes.
Develop an understanding of the underlying data sources so as to accurately interpret user requirements and troubleshoot issues.
Identify and implement performance enhancements, as necessary, to maintain SLAs.
Develop functional specifications, technical specifications, code, test plans, and implementation plans in support of application fixes and enhancements.
Recommend and implement cost effective and efficient solutions for business and technical problems, as well, as new requirements.
Provide subject matter expertise and impact assessments to the Application Development group and associated project teams.
Follow System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices
Follow Project Management best practices.
Comply with internal regulatory and compliance requirements and internal/external audit requests.
Follow Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, and Release Management policies and procedures.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a larger team.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills:
? Four year degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good technical documentation skills.
In depth Java application development/support experience ( 5yrs).
In depth Oracle and PLSQL experience from an application development/support perspective ( 5yrs).
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
Financial Services industry experience.
Retirement Plan/Annuity industry knowledge; e.g. IRA, Keoghs, 401k, 403b.
Ability to mentor team members not as familiar with the newer technologies.
Javascript, Java Frameworks such as Spring, Web Services, Weblogic or Apache Web Server.
Reporting tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence.
Tools such as Apache ANT, Eclipse IDE, and Oracle TOAD.
ETL tools such as IBM DataStage or Informatica.
