Organization Objective/Purpose:

Schwab Advisor Services Development and Technology - Critical Engineering's mission is to sustain stable, high quality, optimized customer platforms and applications while driving ongoing improvements in quality, efficiency and productivity. CE focuses on 'lights-on' support for Advisor Services Tech applications, including application maintenance and small enhancements, small projects, support for disaster recovery/business resumption readiness and AS Space infrastructure. In addition, CE is a service provider to all of AS Tech, offering deployment and configuration management, mainframe development, Oracle database development and data modeling services.



Brief Description of Role:

This person will work with a team of Oracle Application Database Administrators on the design, development and implementation of Oracle based applications. This position requires the ability to gather (and document) database requirements, and to then design, build, test, and implement database functionality for different types of applications. The incumbent will plan the database including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensure accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. May provide MIS data to business partners. This position also requires ONCALL rotation with the other team members. The Advisor Services Database must sustain high availability and performance at all times. Both reactive and proactive system monitoring is critical to this position with the ability to quickly troubleshoot and fix production issues.



Technical/Functional Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years experience as an application DBA.

- Must be will versed in database development, database interfaces, data analysis, and database performance.

- Must be able to work with configuration Management to migrate work through all project states and environments.

- Must support the QA team with data driven requests.

- Strong know of Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL and Unix Shell Scripting is required.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
