Sr. IT Engineer - UNIX/Web technologies - Broomfield

TIAA-CREF, the only not-for-profit financial services organization
specializing in the higher education and medical services industries is
looking for a Sr. IT Engineer.
This position requires:
* 10 years of experience in the IT industry
* Strong server administration and server engineering background
with a detailed working knowledge of Sun Microsystems hardware, OS,
software, and web technologies (e.g. Apache, BEA).
* 7+ years hands-on experience with UNIX (Solaris / Linux) and web
(Apache, BEA Weblogic) technologies with emphasis on design and capacity
planning for high-availability e-business sites.
* 7+ years supporting (capacity planning, patching, etc)
high-availability UNIX-based web platforms.
* 5+ years functional IT Engineering experience, preferably in
Financial Services
* 5+ years project support & management experience in large
corporate environment
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Primary Responsibilities (Role):
* Represent IT Engineering on corporate initiatives performing
requirements gathering, analysis, sizing, and consulting (internal).
* Develop and support distributed system implementation plans,
roadmaps, and standards.
* Cultivate cross-organizational partnerships with support,
architecture, and business areas.
* Diagnose distributed system issues in complex business-critical
environments.
* Provide 2nd & 3rd level support for enterprise UNIX-based web
platforms including related technologies such as Solaris 10, Covalent
Apache, etc.
Desired Skills:
* IT Security background (SunOne LDAP, Active Directory, etc)
* Korn and Perl scripting knowledge
* Functional networking / protocol knowledge
* Functional storage technologies knowledge (SAN/NAS)
* Enterprise Database knowledge (Oracle, Teradata)
* Enterprise management products (Tivoli, Sun Management Center,
Sun UCE)
* Professional certifications (Solaris, CCNP, etc)
