RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will provide day-to-day operational support for Oracle and IBM DB2 database servers. The candidate must display a history of continually suggesting improvements to optimize existing and new processes. This is a 7x24 environment and must be able to join a 7x24 rotating on-call schedule. This position may require shift schedule.

JOB SCOPE
This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. This role serves as a technical/functional specialist and works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations.
Support UNIX (Solaris/AIX) and linux based hardware, operating systems and databases including Oracle and DB2 in a transaction intensive, 7x24, domain.
Provide operational and database support to Oracle EBS Suite (Financials)
Deployment of components of the database, define configuration objects and messaging environments.
Assist in change management processes.
Improving the efficiency of current processes and help standardize them.
Responding to and resolving incident and problem tickets.
Documenting and thoroughly understanding the application architecture, system configuration across platforms and interface with various systems and use this knowledge effectively to resolve issues
Work closely with customer support team to communicate the root cause of the outage, duration and recommendations or steps to resolve issues.






REQUIREMENTS


BA degree in Computer Science or related field plus 6-8 years of experience supporting Oracle Databases in a large production environment, or equivalent.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent activities and meet timeframes and deliverables
Expert level experience with: Oracle, IBM DB2, Oracle E-business Suite (Financials)
UNIX (Solaris/AIX), Linux, JAVA, LDAP
RAID based storage (NAS/SAN)
Configuration and management of application servers and Web servers
Web based application development/deployment problems
Network based protocols and UNIX security issues
VM experience a plus
Achieve and understand Service Level commitments for all open systems platforms
Must have a technical and business mindset and able to understand business impact for open systems environment
Must have Operations Support experience.
