JOB SUMMARY The Market Manager is responsible for defining and executing the product and marketing strategy for his portfolio, develop implementation plans, and manage the execution of those plans. He needs to understand the market needs, customer issues, competitive threats, technical developments, geographic differences, distribution strengths and weaknesses, and design a winning strategy based on that analysis. The strategic vision must also include a business analysis to ensure the strategy leads to sustainable profitable growth for Trimble. The responsibilities also include execution of the strategy by successful and timely product introductions, distribution training and education, marketing, and management of the product through its lifecycle. Must have 3 years experience overseeing complex hardware product development projects. Ideal candidate has experience with construction industry
The Market Manager is supported by one or more Product Managers and interacts with his peers, the engineering teams, marcom, distribution management, operations, the support teams, and third party partners. This position requires active management of many facets of the product marketing process, including driving understanding of customer needs, development of product MRDs, working closely with the development team(s), product parts management, product releases, product training, and product pricing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Owns the market analysis to identify market needs and market potential through market research, customer interviews, dealer interaction, competitive analysis, and all other relevant means. • Translates market needs into product specifications and works with the rest of the marketing team to define appropriate multi-year product roadmap and business plan. • Prepares the Market Requirement Documents with Product Managers, development and application engineers. • Ensure project approval by senior management. • Participates as a leader in the product development team, monitors that the product development output remains consistent with the product objectives and recommends action. • Plans and manages the development of the documentation needed internationally for the success of the product. Documentation may include manuals, brochures, advertising, price books, etc. • Ensures that the support for the product is in place at the time the product is released and monitors the support to ensure that it remains consistent with objectives of the business plan. • Assists in the planning and execution of training events for the sales force to ensure that the sales people are fully capable of selling the product based on features superiority and differentiation as well as other factors identified in the business plan. • Supports the successful execution of marketing events like trade-shows, boot camps, and dealer meetings. • Manages the product during its life cycle, including parts management, quality issues, pricing, end of life transitions, etc. • Monitors product results in detail and ensures that the organization is aware of any shortfalls in performance against business plan objectives and recommends action.
