Sr. Systems Engineer
OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, membership,
computer library service and research organization dedicated to the
public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and
reducing information costs. Tens of thousands of libraries around the world
use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library
materials. We are currently seeking candidates for a Sr. Systems
Engineer for our Boulder, Colorado office.
Responsibilities:
* Analyze and solve problems in existing systems. This includes [but is
not limited to] server administration, Active Directory design,
monitoring and maintenance of file and print services, internal and external
web servers and services, third party applications, and remote access
services. This also includes routine maintenance to prevent server or
network related problems, and provide 24 X 7 coverage during on-call
rotation.
* Security consultant, responsible for review and implementation of
best practice network and server security measures. This includes the
review and deployment of new service packs and security patches, virus
scanning, email scanning, security updates, as well as the enforcement of
corporate security policies. Establish and document policies for server
deployments, maintenance, security and other procedures.
* Provide corporate and production site administration services for
email and company's voice mail system. This includes services for local
users, extensive public folders for departments and project teams, and an
email distribution system for publishers.
* Performs needed analysis and support of networking configurations.
This includes devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, load
balancers, vpn configurations, and telecommunications needs.
* Storage administrator maintaining physical storage technologies
(harddrives, tape, and optical) for production and corporate environments.
* Administration of backup system, which includes both production and
corporate infrastructure. Also, includes audit of backup schedules,
rotation of media and test data restoration on a routine basis.
* Participates in major architectural reviews and plans, as well as
participates in load, capacity, and performance analysis and/or testing.
* Provide tier 2 end user support including hardware/software
troubleshooting and training in new technologies
* Other tasks as assigned by Manager
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science related discipline required
* 3-6 years of software development or project management experience
* Must have the ability to master advance fundamental software
development concepts, practices and procedures
* Demonstrate ability to lead and communicate in a team environment
