User Interface Designer - eCollege in Denver

The User Interface Designer is responsible for user interface design
efforts for new and existing products at eCollege. They will work with
the product management and development departments to interpret and
translate business requirements into a visual product, including
prototyping and stand-alone screen designs. They are also responsible
for the creation of, and the content in, the software requirements
specification document which outlines the workflow and functionality of
each screen control.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.




Essential Duty or Responsibility

* Assists in the creation of software requirements during the
product definition phase of product development, this includes
interviewing potential users, internal staff, etc.;

* Designs navigation and user interactions with the product,
integration between products, and integration of third party products
into eCollege products;

* Ensures product designs are usable and follow company
guidelines for accessibility;

* Develops screens for new or existing products using HTML, CSS
and JavaScript;

* Interprets and translates business requirements into a visual
product;

* Analyzes what requirements are needed to complete the product;

* Ensures that the product is ready for release;

* Creates software requirements specification to guide
developers
and ensure project managers, product managers and developers agree that
the project is technically feasible, usable and accessible;

* Participates in usability evaluation and user research
projects. Leads discussions/consensus gathering on interpretation of
results internally;

* Other duties as assigned.



MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Includes people, process or functions.

This position does not have managerial responsibility.



QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree in a design related field or technical field, or
equivalent experience is required. Minimum of two (2) years experience
in interface design and product development. Experience with graphics
software and software requirements gathering desired.




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


* Strong usability design skills

* Strong proficiency in the following:

HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

* Experience with JavaScript

* Experience with AJAX a plus

* Ability to communicate all aspects of a requirement through
a
design

* Understanding of web technologies and web based software

* Understanding of the limitation of web design

* Strong PC skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft
Office Suite

* Ability to quickly learn new emerging technologies

* Ability to be flexible and adapt to any given situation

* Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently

* Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills
(written and verbal), and interpersonal skills

* Excellent organizational and time management skills

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

* Ability to make timely and sound decisions
