RESPONSIBILITIES




JOB SCOPE

This role is an individual contributor responsible for applying skills and knowledge to perform specified support functions. This position is at a senior support staff level and may determine methods and procedures within defined guidelines.


The position is responsible for design, installation, upkeep, and provisioning of our production and development tape area networks. The position exists to provide a stable and sustainable continuity of the backup configurations providing the foundation for a centralized data backup and recovery. This position will work very closely with the internal team and the various engineering groups in our Global Processing Services Division.

Experience providing technical and project leadership for large projects from requirements through implementation
Will install, configure support and maintain enterprise backup and Virtual Tape Drives in a large heterogeneous data center environment
Configure fiber-based tape and disk environments consisting of tape library, IBM LTO tape devices, IBM VTS, Sun VTL, and ATL, McData/ Brocade switch/director infrastructure and multi-vendor disk subsystems (ACSLS)
Will provide support, troubleshooting and problem resolution for tape backup and SAN environments
Tape Storage Capacity Planning
Experience with backup and recovery technologies and techniques encompassing architecture, design implementation and support functions
Demonstrated ability to provide technical recommendations on back up architecture
Provide disaster recovery as it relates to storage systems and data recovery techniques, including disk replication, snapshot and disaster recovery knowledge best practices
Deploy tape encryption technologies
Experience with the following technologies as they relate to Veritas backup is a plus: Exchange, DB2, SQL Server, Informix, Oracle and Terradata
Experience and understanding of clustering technologies
Plan, deploy and configure Storage Area Network directors or switches.
Prepare ad-hoc analysis and reports as needed






REQUIREMENTS


Bachelors Degree and typically requires 5 - 7 years experience with a minimum of 3 years experience with Veritas NetBackup DataCenter in a large multi-platform environment including NBU V5.1/6.0, SSO, Master/media server and client configurations (6.5.1)
Proficient with shell scripting
Experience with Snapshot and flash copy technology - Network Appliance preferred
Must have a solid understanding of the following: Operating systems in use (Windows NT/2000/2003, IBM AIX, SUN Solaris, HP-UX, Linux) (VMWARE) backups, proxy VCB servers, (NBU upgrades).
Unix files system and networking concepts
VERITAS volume management software
Fibre Channel, CIF's, NFS, and iSCSI
Storage Area Network and Network Area Storage designs and principles
Hardware administration and support for McData/Brocade storage switches
System back-up and restores principles and products (Netbackup), and principles, practices, and administration
Excellent communication and team skills
Must be flexible and able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
High degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity
After hour on-call support in a rotating schedule
