GHX - Product Owner, Sr. Software Engineer

Closely collaborates with the agile team on a daily basis to guide and
direct the team by actively managing the backlog, answering questions
when they arise, providing feedback, and signing off work results.


Will work with multiple Product Managers and Internal Stakeholders to
gain a thorough understanding of their needs and how their components
will satisfy those needs. As a general function, will then represent
the interests of the Product Managers and Internal Stakeholders to the
agile team by describing, prioritizing, and communicating the
requirements.



In addition, will be responsible to consider which activities will
deliver the most business value and make the necessary decision.



Principle duties and responsibilities:

* Acts as a liaison between the agile delivery team and business
groups by communicating product and business vision, translating product
needs into clear, well defined user stories.

* Collaborates with Product Managers and Internal Stakeholders
to manage and prioritize work backlogs.

* Works with the Agile development team to specify and scope
features as well as define acceptance criteria for those features.

* Collaborates with Product Managers to understand and set the
correct customer expectations regarding production delivery.

* Works with Product Management to determine ongoing priorities
and business values for functionality and stories.

* Creates and maintains the teams' backlog. This means creation
of user stories with enough detail for the team to groom; manages which
groomed stories are in the iteration; makes sure that there is an
adequate supply of groomed stories.

* Accepts the iteration and makes sure it is ready for
deployment, once development and quality assurance are complete.

* Plans with project management the releases of specific feature
sets and key portions of multi-component initiatives, so they can be
delivered to the market in a coordinated fashion.

* Manages the Agile team for maximum productive velocity.



Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in related discipline, or a combination of
education and related experience.

* 5+ years' Project Management or Product Management experience.

Required Skills:

* Strong organizational and time management skills.

* Basic understanding of Agile development methodology in a
SCRUM environment.

* Ability to work well with others and resolve any conflicts
that may arise between different viewpoints.

* Ability to assess risks, dependencies, and identify mitigation
strategies.

* Strong ability to multi-task.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong analytical skills.

* Strong team player.

* Skilled in leading meetings, setting agendas, driving
decisions, and negotiating.

Responsible for the analysis, design, programming and unit testing on
Web Applications utilizing Java, GWT, JSF, JSP, HTML/DHTML, CSS, and
JavaScript.



Other duties may include developing testing tools to help ensure code
quality, testing B2B software components, developing specifications, and
developing supporting documentation.



Will work with other engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, and
Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet company
initiatives with respect to functionality, performance, scalability,
reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to
development goals and principles.



Principle duties and responsibilities:

* Analysis, design, and implementation of Java-based web
applications.

* User interface design and development

* Contribute to project document reviews, and design/code reviews.

* Adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and
testing.

* Incorporate Architectural Standards into application design
specifications.

* Generate supporting unit tests as well as system test
specifications and implementations.

* Develop scripts to generate automated deployment of developed
solutions.

* Develop implementation and troubleshooting guides.

* Work independently with some day-to-day instruction and general
direction for new assignments.

* Interact with product owners to verify and clarify requirements
and design decisions.

* Work collaboratively and closely with QA in an Agile
environment.

Required Qualifications:

* B.S. in Computer Science or related degree, or a combination of
education and related experience

* 7+ years of professional Java development experience

* 7+ years experience in requirements analysis, design, coding and
unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications

* 7+ years experience required in object-oriented design
methodology

* Experience with Web Application development utilizing Java, JSF,
JSP, HTML/DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript

* Web GUI development experience including extensive interaction
with business logic layers

* Experience with using an RDMS, Oracle and/or SQL Server

* Experience with Application Server development, preferably JBOSS

* Experience with MVC architectures

* Knowledge of XML

* Must be able to work independently and as part of a team on
multiple overlapping projects

* Strong problem solving and analytical skills

* Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

* Experience working as an individual contributor on an Agile team
using SCRUM daily standup meetings, burndown charts, sprint
planning/retrospectives

* GWT experience

* Portal experience a strong plus

* UNIX experience

* Experience with web services
