EMC - Principal Software Developer

Louisville, Colorado - Principal Software Developer (Java)

EMC Avamar is looking for a Principal Software Engineer in our
Louisville, Colorado facility, to join a team that is developing high
availability, multi-platform, storage-related software products. We are
looking for hands-on, talented, innovative, and practical individuals
with experience to design, implement and support products and product
components on a predictable schedule.

EMC Avamar backup and recovery software, equipped with integrated
global, source data deduplication technology, facilitates fast, daily
full backups for VMWare environments, remote offices and LAN/NAS serves
in the data center.

Responsibilities:
* Conceptualize and prototype UI models for review and usability
testing
* Design, implement, document, test and debug major software
solutions
* Analyze and fix complex software problems
* Participate in unit testing and support product testing and
certification.
* Interpret (and may author) technical documents including design
specifications, functional specifications, detailed design documents and
theory of operations manuals.
* Work with Technical Publications to provide information needed
by technical writers in the development of user manuals and guides.

Skills
* Experience with Software development lifecycle
* Experience in developing standalone and client-server
Applications using Java Swing, and Web based clients using Java Web
technologies such as JSF and AJAX.
* Comfortable with core Java language features,
* Experience with implementing software in a variety of operating
environments (UNIX, Linux and Windows).
* Strong Java programming skills
* Experience with Java Threading and Synchronization
* Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and ability
to work with geographically dispersed team
* Must be a team player
* Knowledge of a variety of development tools including Perforce
and Ant Experience with RMI, JDBC, and XML is highly desirable.
Education
* BSCS/BSSE/MS or equivalent experience
* Minimum 8+ years of software engineering experience
* Should have strong debugging and problem solving skills
