our software engineers both for suitability for the position and to

SUCCESS FACTOR SNAPSHOT: Senior Software Engineer

Goals
 Document, develop, build, install, configure, and
demonstrate software products.
 Resolve existing and newly-found software product issues.
 Develop new features to support product roadmaps.
 Assert engineering leadership and act as mentor to junior
engineers.

Obstacles
 Imperfect and missing procedures must be revised or created.
 Imperfect and missing design documentation must be revised
or created.
 Legacy implementations need to be improved.
 Support tasks for existing products must be balanced with
new development.

Actions
 Master understanding of existing documentation.
 Master understanding of existing procedures process control
systems.
 Learn to install and configure software products on
development workstations.
 Augment and improve existing procedures and documentation.
 Learn the core operations of the software products and how
they interact.
 Refactor legacy implementations.
 Develop new features as defined in product roadmaps.

Results (by the end of ___ business days)
 Training
 5 days: Build and install assigned software products;
demonstrate understanding of all existing documentation and
process control systems.
 8 days: Configure and demonstrate assigned software product.
 12 days: Conduct design review of first assigned software
product.
 15 days: Conduct code review of proposed refactoring or new
feature for first assigned software product.
 Production
 After training, perform all actions listed above, adding
additional products to the list of assigned products.

DESCRIPTION
Perform full life cycle software engineering for assigned products.
Assert engineering leadership toward goals of improving the software
products and of developing technical skills of junior engineers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MIX
 100% training for the first 15 business days
 80% production contribution thereafter
 20% support assistance

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in computer science or
equivalent experience, with four or more years of experience in
software development on the Windows platform and C# or C++ as the
development language. Although not prerequisites to qualify,
candidate who can demonstrate any or all of the following skills
will receive highest consideration:
 ASP.NET web-based development
 RS-232 serial and BlueTooth communications
 Service-oriented architectures (SOA)
