Senior Quality Assurance Analyst – Data Warehouse and ETL
Summary:
The Data Quality Assurance Analyst shares responsibility for the
overall quality of the Data Warehouse products delivered to Finance
and Revenue Operations business areas. Products include internally
developed base code, third party software that is integrated into
the data warehouse and other technology components that are required
to operate the Data Warehouse.
The QA Analyst develops and executes test plans, assuring the data
warehouse meets specified business requirements; champions testing
tools and process improvements, addressing cost, quality and speed;
is familiar with a variety of fields, concepts, practices and
procedures; leverages extensive experience and demonstrates good
judgment to plan and accomplish goals; is creative and is expected
to function with a high degree of latitude.
The Data Quality Assurance Analyst will work closely with the
development team and project management to review test requirements,
develop test plans, create test data and identify expected results
to thoroughly test the business requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
1) Obtains an understanding of the business's financial and clinical
information needs and translates these needs into QA requirements.
2) Must be able to communicate with leads regarding project
readiness, status and potential risks.
3) Collaborates with developers to improve overall quality by
emphasizing defect prevention through the development process.
4) Works with IT Operations to ensure test environment readiness.
5) Develops data quality test plans and manually executes test cases.
6) Ability to formulate a solid test approach/strategy using a
variety of sources ranging from well documented requirements
specifications to loosely defined requirements.
7) Experience in breaking tasks down, estimating timelines, and
delivering quality results on time.
8) Ability to analyze root cause of a problem and demonstrate good
sense when handing the problem over to development.
9) Performs data quality analysis using advanced SQL skills.
10) Tracks defects in StarTeam to ensure appropriate management and
escalation of defects. Coordinate defect resolution and retesting.
11) Implements and maintains tools required to support data
warehouse testing.
12) Develops and provides insights into streamlining processes.
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor's degree in business or computer science or equivalent
experience.
2) 5 or more years of software quality assurance experience.
3) Proven data analysis, data verification and problem-solving
abilities.
4) A strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
5) Proficient in the use of Database Development Tools for both
Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases (i.e. PL/SQL Developer, TOAD, SQL
Query Analyzer, etc)
6) Experience performing ETL code migration is preferred
7) Experience with Informatica ETL tool is preferred
8) Experience testing and deploying Data Warehouse solutions is
preferred, familiarity with data warehouse testing techniques
including profiling.
9) Experience performing QA and testing of tools-based as well as
custom ETL logic is highly desired
10) Experience with StarTeam application is preferred
11) Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to
project-based work structures.
12) Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly
language.
13) Strong analytical skills. Assimilates information quickly,
communicates complex requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
14) Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as
independently. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced
dynamic team-based environment.

Skills and Experience

** Strong ability in creating test plans and in test/design and
development
** Ability to work with Product Development to verify that the
products work as designed
** Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines
** Ability to develop test cases as needed for new functionality as
well as regression testing
** Ability to ensure that all issues found are reported in the
defect tracking system with the level of detail needed for
engineering to diagnose appropriately
** Ability to maintain and run automated and performance tests and
report the results
** Ability to work with Customer Support to research and reproduce
customer issues and create test cases for those issues
** Maintain the test lab / test environment and verify adherence to
standards
