Group Overview

The Corporate, Employee and Development Services - InSight Team is responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of a critical Corporate Oversight application. The application performs behavior detection and surveillance for a variety of issues, including: customer risk and suitability; help and advice practices; employee activities; supervision of investment advisors; fraud prevention; and the identification of possible money laundering. This fast-paced development and support team utilizes knowledge of the financial services industry and current technology to deliver industry leading functionality. Members of the InSight team have the opportunity to work with groups throughout Schwab Technology, Schwab Investor Services, Schwab Institutional, Schwab Bank and Corporate Oversight.



Position Description

The InSight Business Analyst / SQL Developer will develop new behavior detection processes and enhance the existing functionality in the system. The person will be responsible for all phases of the development lifecycle, from gathering requirements through production implementation and support. The position provides the opportunity to apply expert analytical skills to challenging Schwab business initiatives. The optimal candidate will bring an inquisitive, problem-solving and collaborative approach to complex development and support efforts.



Requirements

Critical to success:

* 3-5 years experience as a business analyst in the financial services industry
* Technical proficiency in the development and tuning of complex Oracle SQL statements and PL/SQL procedures.
* Experience with data modeling.
* Knowledge of data mining / pattern detection systems, including the Mantas behavior detection platform, or a strong desire to learn.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A proactive approach to identifying solutions to complex technical issues.
* BA/BS degree in related field
* Series 7 certification is required during the first twelve months in the position.



Beneficial skills:

* Familiarity with Unix / Linux scripting and/or Informatica development.
* Report development skills involving Brio or Actuate.

Familiarity with Schwab trading and transaction systems.
