AORN has a unique and exciting opportunity and we're looking for a
talented individual to fill our Online Communities Specialist position.
We are currently growing our Membership department to support our
organization's objectives, making this is an opportunity to have a very
large impact on our organization, as well Operating Room nurses
throughout the country.



Position Title: Online Communities Specialist

Department: Membership

Reports to: Director, Membership



Position Summary:

The Online Communities Specialist supports the evolution and
implementation of AORN's online communities with a particular focus on
nurturing growth and value of the online communities. Champions the
online community presence to AORN staff and members / member prospects,
promotes community features/benefits and enhancements, as well as
provides system training. Acts as the "go-to" person for current best
practices and trends in web 2.0 and sets standards for measuring
communities' performance.



Primary Responsibilities:

* Develops and implements new online content and tools that
add value to AORN member groups (specialty assemblies, chapters,
committees, etc.)

* Develops and implements business plans aimed at increasing
usage of AORN's online community offering, tracking results and
recommending new strategies

* Acts as the business lead on small- to medium-sized
web-based technology projects

* Maintains knowledge of current best practices and
competition for online communities (forums, chat, blogs, social /
professional networking, media, etc.)

* Administers AORN's online community

o Day-to-day management of community posts (reviews abuse
reports, reviews document posts, scans posts for appropriateness,
enforces community guidelines, updates online legal and training
documents, etc.)

o Communicates community activity to the appropriate AORN staff
including new product development ideas or product gaps, clinical
issues, hot topics, potential leaders, etc.

o Routes posts with questions to the appropriate staff

o Recommends and implements initiatives for meeting community
goals for growth, usage, leadership development, environmental scan, and
content development

* Champions the online community product with internal staff,
members and member prospects, with the ability to communicate product
features and benefits

* Conducts ongoing training for internal and external users on
community administration and customer-facing functionality

* Identifies quantitative and qualitative approaches to
measuring community performance

* Provides technical support for members and member prospects
related to the website and community

* Demonstrates the website and online community functionality
at educational conferences

* Monitors virtual chapter (eChapter) and leverages eChapter
feedback for ongoing website and community development

* Works collaboratively with the Web Communications Specialist
and IT regarding the creation, implementation and promotion of the
online communities.





Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree, preferably with an e-business emphasis

* 2+ years related experience (website content management,
community administration, social media, web publishing, pod casting,
webinars, etc.)

* An early adopter of new technology, internet savvy,
knowledgeable about online trends, working knowledge of web 2.0
technologies, with the ability to quickly learn new software

* Software experience to include: customer database, community
administration and promotion, website content management, webinars and
training software

* Ability to present recommendations clearly and persuasively
in writing and in direct interactions with internal staff and members /
member prospects

* Demonstrated project management skills with a working
knowledge of technical specifications (requirements) development

* Experience with software training preferred

* Demonstrated experience in web copy writing and editing
skills

* Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and
external partners

* Ability to demonstrate and hold others accountable for
organizational values of: communication, quality, innovation and
diversity



Working Conditions:

This position is high volume and fast-paced, with frequent deadlines.
Works at a desk in a nonsmoking office environment using a computer
daily. Ability to travel to Association related meetings several times
per year.
