Job Description:

The Principal Database Administrator will work on the
Technical Infrastructure DBA team performing multiple
database administration and design tasks in a complex
operational environment. The candidate will work with
minimal supervision/guidance and must be able to
handle periods of high stress.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
. Work with Software Engineers/Customers to identify
database requirements.
. Design and document database and database objects.
. Support Test and Quality Assurance during test
phases and delivery.
. Prepare and participate in database related
presentations / reviews.
. Mentor and train other engineers on database
concepts.
. Write scripts to automate the database processes.
. Document Build Instructions for software
configuration management.
. Enhance system efficiency through database
performance tuning.
. Perform Oracle and Sybase COTS installs and
upgrades.
. Perform Backup and Recovery of controlled databases.
. Perform common environment setup (setting up schemas
and database objects for software interface).
. Perform User Account Administration.
. Monitor health and status of databases.
. Write documentation (User Manuals, Build
Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.) to
support the deployment to the customer.
. Provide upgrade and performance improvement
recommendations.
. Create and present database architecture charts.
. Support System Engineering with database expertise.

Will represent the Technical Infrastructure database
organization to senior level Customers


Will provide advanced database architecture solutions
to difficult database requirements.



Will work in an open environment where frequent and
direct interaction and collaboration with customers
and peers is ordinary.

Basic Qualifications/Required Experience:

Requires a BS degree in engineering or computer
science, or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of
eight years of full-time, progressive experience in
relational database administration and management.


Five or more years database administration experience
on Oracle and/or Sybase databases.


Four or more years experience performance tuning of
relational databases.



Four or more years experience working in a UNIX
operating environment.



Requires two or more years experience working with
replicated databases - Oracle and/or Sybase.



Four or more years experience with database concepts
such as relational theory, configuration management
and/or backup/recovery.


Requires two or more years experience successfully
advising management and customers on database
architecture issues and applications.



Demonstrated experience in effectively presenting
technical information to non-technical audiences.



Demonstrated ability to produce solutions for complex
technical database problems.


Must be able to handle periods of high stress.


REQUIRES US CITIZENSHIP.

Requires ability to satisfy requirements for a TS/SCI
SSBI security clearance.

Desired Experience/Skills:

A CURRENT AND ACTIVE TS/SCI SSBI SECURITY CLEARANCE IS
BENEFICIAL.

. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) with in the last
5 years is a plus
. Previous experience working in a CMMI Level 3
classified environment is beneficial
. Application Cluster (RAC or OPS) experience
. Any/Other database language and knowledge is helpful
. Experience with deployment of database maintenance
software and COTS/GOTS products.
. Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as
Oracle Grid Control, HP OpenView or Concord.
. Experience working in a Distributed Computing
Environment (DCE) including UNIX and/or Windows
platforms, and enterprise maintenance.
