SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Perform development tasks as required to support maintenance and enhancements of existing applications, as well as development of new applications. Support development team in all aspects of database development. Perform SQL tuning as required to improve application performance. Primary database environment is Oracle, with a need to support SQL Server development as well.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Development of database objects, to include stored procedures, triggers, functions, etc. in Oracle's PL/SQL and MicroSoft's T-SQL database languages
* Logical and physical database design
* SQL tuning to address performance issues
* Troubleshooting operational database problems
Education and Typical Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of progressively responsible related technical experience, including 1 year developing large, technically complex systems and 6 months with major responsibility for developing, revising and controlling technical documentation of a complex system.
Specific Requirements: TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
* At least 5 yrs of PL/SQL database development in an Oracle (Unix / NT) environment
* Working knowledge of T-SQL database development in a SQLServer environment
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work closely with IT, development, QA and customer satisfaction teams to provide world-class service and support to our clients
* Experienced in analysis of business requirements; ability to translate business requirements to functional and data requirements
* Requires a working knowledge of Oracle 8i and higher, PL/SQL, writing stored procedures, creating views, defining triggers, application tuning
* Requires a working knowledge of SQLServer 2000 or higher
