Job Summary:

- Under general direction from the Manager, provides technical leadership to facilitate installation, modification and operational capabilities of the corporate Oracle database (10g/9i/8i) environments,

- Evaluates and seeks solutions to production issues as well as new projects including review of vendor proposals, hardware and software technical services to insure adherence to and support of company standards

- Prepares short and long term plans to address infrastructure projects as well as support to and technical leadership for internally/externally sponsored company projects

- Performs maintenance of data dictionary integration through database design database architecture, metadata and repository creation

- Plans and recommends changes to the capacity and review the performance in order to maintain company directives.

Key Responsibilities & Skills:

- Design and Creation of Relational Databases (Oracle 10g/9i/8i)

- Modify and support operational capabilities of installed databases

- Maintain data dictionary, metadata and repository creation, Capacity planning, tuning & performance enhancements

- Backup & Recovery strategies

- SQL Statement Tuning & SQL Database Tuning

- Database Security

- Startup and Shutdown of Databases

- Performs physical and logical support of client's Data Repository

- Responsible for 24/7 Production Support

- Prior experience in Large ERP environments, Supporting Data warehouse and OLTP Applications

- IBM, HP, Sun Servers, etc

- High Availability Clustering experience

- At least 4 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, Prior experience with Large scale database (size - upt 3 Terabyte) handling

- Heavy Performance & Tuning experience

- Expert level skills in Unix shell scripting

Job Specifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant technical experience.

- At least 6 years of technical background with more recent exposure to Oracle databases (10g/9i/8i) and associated program products and Operating Systems in a large environment.

- At least 4 years of experience in administering Oracle Databases (10g/9i/8i) and products.

- Strong technical working knowledge and hands-on experience with hardware and operating systems at the large installed level.

- Must be able to give and receive correct information, explain difficult information in layman's terms, and maintain a customer service attitude to all levels of users.

- Experienced in database design, performance and tuning in an Oracle database (10g/9i/8i).

- Ability to work independently and creatively problem resolution of complex technical problems. Able to provide leadership, guidance, and training to others.

- Capable of providing accurate estimates of time frames and cost estimates necessary to complete potential projects.

- Able to re-prioritize tasks as circumstances change.

- Project management skills in developing milestones and project implementation plans.

- Able to work as a team player in a collaborative environment.

- Excellent communication skills are essential.
