Trada - Vice President of Engineering, Desktop Administrator

The VP of Engineering will be responsible for the overall planning,
execution, and success of our engineering projects. You should possess an
entrepreneurial drive, a track record of engineering achievement, and a
demonstrated ability to achieve goals in an innovative and fast paced
environment. You are an inspiring technical leader who manages by
empowering the engineering team, removing blocks, and engaging in
conversation. Your goal is to lead the continued growth of our engineering
team, and build the best products possible in an environment where talented
engineers love to work. You are an evangelist for continuous integration
and deployment principles, and can jump in to assist if necessary to ensure
completion of time sensitive releases.

*Responsibilities*

- Own the overall planning, execution, and success of engineering
projects.
- Execute projects with continuous delivery models and a no fear attitude
- Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that may
support or impede the success of the business.
- Proven ability to quickly gain support of an excellent engineering
team with diverse backgrounds.
- Amazing communication skills that assist in distilling a broad range
of ideas into a coherent plan and able to provide insight of progress.
- Hire, train, build, manage, and mentor a team of amazing developers.


- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry
trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices.
- Define and communicate company values and standards for acquiring or
developing systems, equipment, or software within the company.
- Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained
across the organization.
- Share knowledge, mentor, promote team achievement and educate the
organization’s investors, management, staff, partners, customers,
stakeholders, and community with regard to the company’s technological
vision, opportunities, and challenges.
- Develop, track, and control the development and deployment annual
operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.
- Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all
development staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel
policies, and budget requirements.
- Contribute to open source software development, standardization of
technologies, and evolution of best practices by collaborating with peers
outside the company, releasing code, presenting at conferences, and writing
for publication (online or offline).


*Requirements*

- Demonstrated success driving system architecture decisions including:
design, key technologies and languages, trade-offs, development
environment, develop code, code management, and release process
- 8+ years of proven experience managing software engineering teams and
bringing products to market on schedule
- At least 5 years of relevant experience managing large, fast-paced and
dynamic engineering teams.
- Excellent communications skills to collaborate with business owners
and product management team to define the best product architecture choices
and roadmap
- Skilled at pooling together great ideas from a diverse user set into a
continuous stream of functionality
- Experience working in small high growth companies: entrepreneurial
drive, demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and
fast paced environment.
- Very high technical competence, experience scaling web applications to
millions of users
- Experience working with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
- Experience meeting objectives of a continuous integration and
deployment model
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails is a plus

pros to complement our already successful and experienced team.

*Responsibilities*

- Maintain large scale database schema
- Develop deployment and disaster recovery procedures
- Create and maintain documentation on installations
- Serve as primary contact for desktop and end-user support
- Ensure tickets get resolved in a timely manner
- Responsible for assisting in deployments
- Responsible for managing emergencies and deployments while minimizing
customer impact (eventually, communication to customer facing groups).

*Required Skills and Experience:*

- Degree/Certificate in Systems Administration, Information Technology
or related experience
- Experience in managing a multi-platform clients
- Development and management of a run book
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
