Epsilon - Technology Manager

The Manager of Technology is a hands-on position. This role is responsible for the technical direction and ongoing support of a marketing solution for a client or group of clients. Technical Managers must possess solid experience in implementing large-scale Oracle data warehouse solutions, leading teams of database developers, relational database design and implementation of both data warehouses and data marts, marketing automation and business intelligence applications, systems and data integration, and demonstrating a detailed understanding of a client.s solution. Technology Managers require polished written and presentation abilities and must practice good time management. Individuals in this role may be asked to supplement needs on project or account management teams.


Responsibilities


Actively lead individuals engaged in the development of marketing database and real-time marketing automation solutions for clients including batch extract, transformation, and load (ETL) frameworks, shell scripting, SQL-driven data warehouse and data mart updates, and application integration.

. Function as technical lead for marketing database builds and major change requests

. Manage technical staff (including direct, indirect, and matrixed resources) along with project timelines for builds and manage environments. Environments may include several smaller client solutions or a single large project within an overall enterprise class solution. Must be able to lead team without direct supervision.

. Actively manage the technical resources for a client or group of clients. Build and retain a competent staff through effective on-boarding and leadership of team members.

. Manage career paths by coaching and mentoring direct and indirect reports. Hold associates accountable for their work by setting expectations, achieving commitments, providing feedback, and evaluating effectiveness. Provide technical leadership in the organization.

. Research and propose cost effective technical solutions to address business challenges such as improvement of development, process, and governance standards.

. Evaluate and communicate needs for technical capabilities, staffing, and infrastructure.

. Assist account staff with project requirements gathering and technical design specifications.

. Interact with the client(s) directly on a regular basis. Occasional visits to client site will be required.

. Enforce group standards for development, process and controls.

. Develop strong peer network.


Qualifications


Bachelor.s degree or equivalent experience is required.



. 5+ years experience implementing large-scale Oracle database applications through the entire life cycle of discovery, requirements definition, technical design, development, quality assurance and client acceptance with particular emphasis on data integration within a relational environment.

. Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills in an Oracle environment required

. Experience with ETL processing utilizing shell scripting and SQL in a Linux/Unix environment required

. 5+ years experience in relational database design, administration and support including Oracle or Netezza. This experience must include implementations of data warehouse and data mart environments utilizing leading analytic and decision support applications.

. Must have strong problem solving and negotiation skills in a client-facing environment.

. Ability to communicate advanced technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

. Proven ability to work effectively under significant deadline pressure.

. 5+ years demonstrated experience leading a team of between 2-5 individuals with proven track record of strong leadership and people management skills

. Ability to interface directly with a client and translate business requirements into appropriate technical solutions is required.

. Experience with direct marketing in the Retail vertical preferred

. Experience in both an OLTP and Data Warehousing environment preferred.

. Experience with Business Intelligence (Business Objects, Microstrategy, Cognos) and Marketing Automation (Unica, Alterian, SAS Campaign Managaement) applications preferred.

. Experience with integration of data from multiple interaction channels including email, direct mail, retail point of sale, call center, web, mobile, and social media preferred
