MANAGEMENT & REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports directly to the Group Manager Systems.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will administrate and maintain the IBM iSeries systems and
OS/400 operating systems: Responsible for insuring the availability,
serviceability and reliability of the AS/400 host systems; all aspects
of host system administration and programming, both test and production.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Determines and manages infrastructure standards in the area of
IBM iSeries systems
* Responsible for ensuring adequate system capacity through
capacity planning and trend analysis.
* Responsible for managing the design, procurement, installation,
and administration of iSeries hardware and operating system software
* Responsible for determining and analyzing future system
requirements
* Manages and implements effective programs and strategies to
ensure availability of all iSeries Servers and Operating system
* Continuity planning and delivery for Disaster Recovery for
iSeries platform
* Manages and maintains Infrastructure Security relating to
supported platforms
* Manages relationships with key technology vendors..
* Works with the Manager of Systems to develop and administrate
the iSeries budget for operations, maintenance, and capital improvement
programs/projects
* Critical system(s) status monitoring through trend analysis and
capacity planning; establishing and monitoring critical check points,
thresholds and criteria for management exception reporting
* Responsible for change control of system parameters and updates,
coordinate with QA department to evaluate business impact and
communications to appropriate departments and users
* Analyze, evaluate and test Operating system changes and
upgrades.
* Development of business function application specifications and
test plans
* Supervise execution of unit testing and user acceptance testing
of system enhancements and/or changes
* Responsible for feasibility studies of new products
* Analysis and support services for Windows-based client/server
business systems.
* Programming of systems interfaces between Windows-based
client/server applications and iSeries (OS/400) applications
* Testing applications, programs and system modifications
* Configuration, installation, upgrade and maintenance of various
database and server products.
* Installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrade of OS/400
(iSeries) operating system(s) on multiple machines
* Support of other IBM, Kronos, Intel based server platforms,
routers, and POS systems.
* Programming with IBM Job Control Language (CL)
* Network architecture, TCP/IP design and engineering for host and
connected systems
* Project management and participation in projects outside the
specific scope outlined above.
* Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

* Degree in technical discipline or equivalent work experience
* Minimum of (5) years progressively responsible experience in
iSeries administration and configuration, including iSeries hardware,
OS/400 and DB2400
* Demonstrated experience managing large, complex systems
integration projects
* Experience with BRMS backup and management system
* Experience with IBM 35XX series tape drives and 9xxx tape
libraries.
* Experience with AS400 LPAR environment (logical partitioning),
managed by an HMC.
* Experience in storage management tools and methodologies
* Ability to solve a wide range of highly complex,
multi-disciplinary problems
* Ability to compose major reports, policy and procedure manuals,
proposals and presentations
* Ability to improve existing systems and procedures which
periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable
significance.
* Must be comfortable with customer (end-user) support in a 24x7
production environment; on-call rotation every other week.
