In a nutshell, NOPS is a group of 1,900-plus people who provide the day-to-day automation services necessary to support Kaiser Permanentes many medical groups, business partners and millions of members. With 6,000 servers, NOPS is one of the largest Oracle shared database projects in the world. There are about 2,000 changes a month to our applications, systems and networks, so meeting commitments is a big piece of the challenge. And with so many disparate applications, platforms and code differentials, were always striving to reduce the complexity of our distributed environment through automation. As in the practice of medicine, the data center of Kaiser Permanente never stops.

As a Desktop Support Intermediate, you will provide Level 1 technical and problem-solving support to all users assigned to the Colorado regional facilities. Areas of support include desktop hardware and operating environments, printers, network operating systems and end-user software applications. You will also coordinate and install end-user hardware in conjunction with analysts and vendors; respond to help desk calls and/or Remedy cases; determine problems and coordinate solutions; and follow-up with user/IT Support Services. Additionally, you will document and log all activities; update inventories, control logs and tasks lists; and manage customer relations.

Basic qualifications
You need two years of post-secondary technical training (or equivalent work experience) with 3-6 years of professional experience. You must also have proven experience installing and troubleshooting desktop devices and end-user applications; Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or Windows XP; and excellent time management, leadership, oral communication and analysis skills. You must also be able to work independently and effectively with other functional areas.
Additionally, this position requires travel between sites in the metro area, so you must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle. You must also be able to move throughout the Medical Center to troubleshoot problems and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis; and be available for on-call duty after regular working hours (including weekends).
