Senior Oracle Database Administrator
Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our in-house team providing mission-critical DBA support to our clients. This position entails the challenge of juggling a variety of Oracle databases within different industries, applications, high availibility requirements, performance issues, etc. We are seeking a very self-motivated individual who enjoys working from home with occasional onsite short-term projects for local customers in your area. There may be some limited visits to our headquarter office in Northern California as well. Work is during business hours with pager rotation schedule and occasional after-hours work for clients.
Typical responsibilities may include areas such as performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup and recovery audits and implementation, upgrades, migrations, mentoring, implementation of best practices, and other Oracle-related projects.
Our clients represent a wide variety of industries, and we are supporting a variety of Oracle versions up to 10g and RAC. The clients we support also have a variety of operating systems, ranging from Sun, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, and Windows. We have our own monitoring tools and solid infrastructure for support and foster an environment focused on excellent service, teamwork, and learning.

Stay informed on latest developments in the database management field.

Develop, document and adhere to database standards, guidelines, procedures and policies.

Research, evaluate and recommend technical direction for database technologies.

Approach assignments with an appreciation of the customer's perspective and sensitivity to business impacts for the customer.

Carry a pager on a rotation schedule.
Experience Desired:

6+ years of production Oracle DBA experience in Unix environments.

Oracle certification (OCP)
*
Experience in backup and recovery scenarios
*
Strong PL/SQL, SQL Plus, and performance tuning skills
*
Strong knowledge of Oracle utilities
*
Shell scripting knowledge
