System Administrator



At Local Matters, headquartered in a historic former coffin factory in
LoDo, we're building some of the highest traffic local search sites in
the world - across voice, wireless, and internet channels - and we're
looking for the best and the brightest to grow our team.



Our ideal candidate is experienced in the installation, configuration,
and optimization of both Unix/Linux and Windows based systems and
related software components. Additionally, the candidate is required to
create and maintain relevant documentation and procedures to support the
environment. The candidate would also interact with senior level
engineers and technicians to resolve operational and procedural related
issues. The candidate must be skilled in monitoring the established
environment for system availability, performance, and utilization. The
candidate will also be called upon to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair
both hardware and software related problems.



Additionally, the candidate would also assist the department manager in
on-going assessment, upgrading, and future planning of the computing
environments. Tasks would include the research, evaluation, and
recommendation of hardware and software for the various platforms to
support business requirements.



Requirements



* Demonstrated knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Unix/Linux shell script writing and
execution.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Windows systems administration.
* Demonstrated knowledge of high availability techniques.
* Demonstrated knowledge of various protocols such as HTTP, SMTP,
DNS, FTP, LDAP, DHCP, NTP, NFS, and SSH.
* Demonstrated knowledge of web-based infrastructures utilizing
web servers (such as Apache or IIS) and servlet based application
servers (such as Apache Tomcat).
* Knowledge and use of SAN/NAS storage solutions.
* Knowledge and use of open source monitoring tools.
* Knowledge and use of automated backup/recovery solutions and
security systems.
* Knowledge of TCP/IP based networking systems including switches,
routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
* Knowledge of relational database management systems.
* Availability for on-call duties (rotated across team).
