The position leads a team of DBAs who administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and performance of the company database eco-system. This team leader's responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, addressing issues and resolving problems. Review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. Develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources. Formulate and define technical scope and objectives of project. Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks. Partner with stakeholders to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.

Qualifications: Must have the following:

•Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
•5 years of Database experience
•2-3 years experience managing an IT team
•SQL, MS Server, VM computer skills

•Unix/Linux experience is preferred

POSITION PURPOSE:

Design, build, test, and maintain front end web applications within the Vail Resorts internet platform. This position will be primarily involved in the design and development of graphical user interface, front end technologies and applications.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work with Business and IT customers to design, build, test, and maintain internet applications for various VRI business units, including online marketing, central reservations, various mountain and lodging, brands, clubs, and retail.

2. Work to improve change control processes, quality processes, code repository standards and other development standards within VRI's technology ecosystem.

3. Interface with, manage, and periodically work as an embedded resource with VRI's various technology vendors.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:
5 years of experience designing, developing and testing front end technologies including
Experience developing on consumer facing websites
Browser Technologies
XHTML, CSS, XML, XSL/XSLT, JavaScript (jQuery), DHTML, AJAX, SEO, Accessibility, RSS/ATOM, PodCasts, etc.
JavaScript Frameworks
Flash / Flex
Programming Languages/Packages
ASP.NET, C#, ColdFusion, Wiki, Blogs, Forums, etc.
Server-side Integration
NET, Web Services, XML-RPC, SOAP
Content Management Systems
Sitecore, Ektron or similar .net based content management system is preferred.

Other Requirements:
Self motivated and able to work in an independent manner.
Proven leader in driving change to improve development processes and standards.
Experience in multiple structured software development lifecycles, including waterfall and Agile.
Four-year college degree; focus on engineering, computer science or creative design.
Excellent communication skills.
Desire to learn and evolve front end technology skill sets, patterns, and methodologies.
Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team.

Preferred:
Experience integrating web front ends with content management systems.
Experience with SQL Server Databases.
Experience working in a consulting or agency atmosphere.
Understanding of web services (WSDL, ASP.NET Services).
Understanding of SOA, ESB Principles.
Passion for the travel industry, specifically resorts, skiing and snowboarding.
