IT Asset Management Analyst


Position Summary The Asset Management Analyst position will play a
critical role in Nelnet's Corporate Technology procurement process. The
ideal candidate will be required to apply a strong technology background
and knowledge in provide technology purchasing services and input in all
technology related purchases. This position requires a candidate that
understands and has a working knowledge of information technology
equipment and software. Candidate must also possess exceptional customer
service skills and excellent time management habits.

Principal Responsibilities * Assist in the development of purchasing
policy and planning * Serve as a technical and procurement resource in
the development of "best product" across Hardware & Software product
categories * Provide procedures & documentation in Asset Management
technical functions * Purchasing project prioritization and
implementation management * Monitor and measure Asset Management
purchasing staff and suppliers in attainment of established SLA's
(service level agreements) * Monitor and measure on quality standards
and systems * Effective proactive liaison with other departments as
necessary to forecast, plan to meet, and to supply demand relevant to
needs * Effective proactive liaison with other departments in soliciting
service delivery feedback * Provide technical assistance in the
negotiating and administration of purchasing contracts * Provide cost
saving budgeting and targeting analysis * Administration and reporting
as necessary * Warehousing, distribution, shipping management (if
applicable, or effective liaison with these functions/departments) *
Software compliance and information communication * Design and develop
administrative programs and database records required in the performance
of responsibilities as necessary. * Monitor and provide support in the
deployment, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT
systems. * Conduct research and remain current with the latest
technologies and solutions in support of procurement efforts. * Consult
with customers, suppliers, and internal LOBs and systems personnel to
research opportunities, gather process requirements, and determine
systems intent. * Assist in providing Technical Review on materials
requested to be purchased. * Support external customers in assisting
with implementing company supported technology solutions * Identifying
and act upon cost reductions * Track and maintain an accurate inventory
of all equipment purchased, deployed or retired * Facilitate equipment
delivery, returns, relocations and transfers * Extend lifecycle of older
equipment whenever possible with additional memory, storage or
processors * Asset Disposal Program * Ensure Software license compliance


Education and Experience Requirements * B.A. degree in related IT field
or commensurate experience. * 3 years procurement/asset management
experience in an IT department. * Minimum 3 years hands on experience in
desktop technology

Understands the formal and informal departmental goals, standards,
policies and procedures which may include some familiarity of other
departments within Nelnet. * Sensitive to the interrelationship of both
people and functions within the department. * Ability to exercises
administrative judgment. * Ability to obtain requirements, analyze
options and solutions for a variety of hardware and software
requirements in desktop technology * Demonstrated knowledge of
technology purchasing processes and procedures. * Demonstrated knowledge
of asset management processes and procedures. * Demonstrated knowledge
presenting technology recommendations from a business management
perspective. * Demonstrated understanding of PC and network software
licensing and desktop hardware. * Strong analysis and communication
skills. * Ability to solve problems independently, quickly, thoroughly,
and to communicate them clearly to upper management. * Ability to assume
responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact
on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
* Excellent analytical, research, organizational, time management and
problem solving skills are essential. * Ability to analyze information
and provide financially viable options and/or alternatives. * Perform
on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends as required. *
Other duties as assigned.
