15. Superior/Louisville, CO - Senior Java Software Engineer

VisionTek is currently seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer for our
Superior, Colorado office. This person will take a leadership position
in Java server-side development including new feature development and
technology evaluation.
VisionTek is a leading provider of mobile public safety software
applications. Our product provides law enforcement agencies with
communications and mobile data solutions.
Responsibilities:
* This position is a technical lead position responsible for the
development of mobile public safety software applications including
maintenance and enhancements, and project planning related to the
applications.
* Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and
represents the organization in conference to resolve important
questions and to plan and coordinate work.
* Performs high-level engineering tasks and works independently,
efficiently and accurately.
* Responsible for leading the development of VisionTek software
products, including training and team leadership when required.
* Works closely with Quality Assurance and the Engineering team to
solve project development problems and devise and implement test plans
and
testing software.
* Works closely with other members of the development team to ensure
that the software development is meeting scheduled timelines;
communicates frequently with project managers and executive management
on project
status.
Experience and Skills:
* Minimum 10 years software development experience; Java server
applications.
* Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent experience
preferred.
* Solid knowledge of the software development life cycle.
* Considerable / expert knowledge of Java, JEE, HTML, SQL Server, and
Oracle required.
* Expertise in development and deployment of Web Services and SOA.
* Front-end web development expertise is a plus.
* Knowledge of .NET and/or C++ is a plus.
* Knowledge of JSP and/or ASP is a plus.
* Customer requirements gathering and documentation experience
required.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to
effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel
within the organization, including presenting information and
responding to
questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
* Excellent analytical, organizational and communications skills as
well as the professional discipline required to develop high quality
mission critical software.
* Experience in public safety field helpful.
* Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
* Minimal travel required.
