The Trust Operations team in Denver, CO is seeking a Sr. DBA/DBA Consultant for their Denver, Colorado office. This is a full-time opportunity with an industry leader.



The Database Consultant will lead and coordinate analysis, design, development and implementation of databases supporting applications. The position will be responsible for analysis of performance indicators such as systems response time, number of transactions per second, and number of programs being processed at once to ensure that a DBMS is operating efficiently. The role will be involved with DBMS upgrades, disaster recoveries, or migrations, either from a primary or secondary capacity and will serve as a technical resource for the rest of the staff. The role will have an expert level knowledge of data design and DBMS and will educate development staff on database development and production support best practices. Will be responsible for evaluating the impact of decisions relating to databases, providing recommendations to management. Will demonstrate expert knowledge in several database management products. Able and willing to provide assistance and coaching to junior level staff.
The Senior Database Analyst will be part of a team responsible for Enterprise Database Management maintaining the Infrastructure and Applications from a database perspective. This team is responsible for supporting the development, testing and production environments for Oracle, MS Sql Server, Postgres, mySQL, Sybase, DB2 and other relational database technologies.


The Database Consultant will:

* Provide Leadership role on projects

* Develop plans

* Analyze data needs

* Design and develop database application components, both logical and physical

* Provide testing and performance tuning support

* Deploy and support database components in production

* Develop scripts to automate routine and repetitive database administration tasks

* Act as a liaison between application developers and the database team members

* Develop Best practice process and procedures

* Have an enterprise wide impact

Strong interpersonal, presentation and leadership skills are needed to work well with a talented team of developers and infrastructure team members. Candidates should have the ability to effectively communicate to technical and business directors. Effective time management skills a must. Candidates will be responsible for designing logical and physical data models at the project level; coordinating DDL changes; coding stored procedures; QA support; and the production implementation of all schema changes.

The ideal candidate will also be able to assist with database/application migrations, disaster recovery scenarios, and server upgrades whenever feasible. The ability to provide accurate estimates costs in terms of data storage and required effort for each change is highly desirable.

Candidate must also have the ability to use functional and technical knowledge of Oracle development and stored procedures to assist in quickly implementing new application modules, upgrading existing applications, and correcting production issues.



Required Skills / Experience:


*8+ years experience in Database Development and Production Support
*5+ years writing Oracle, Sybase, MS/SQL or DB2
*8+ years knowledge of Database administration, with both technical and functional knowledge of Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i, Sybase, DB2, MS SQL
*6+ years experience in Unix/Linux/Windows DB environment
*1+ years experience in development and administration in a Postgres or mySQL environment
*Strong Unix and Linux scripting is a must
*Experience with design and implementation of Data Warehouses is a plus
*Knowledge of XML, JAVA and Unix scripting languages are a plus
*Experience in troubleshooting application development database issues is a must
*Proven experience in all phases of the software development cycle
*Excellent verbal and written communications skills
*Ability to work in a remote team environment

Desired Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree/Master's degree with emphasis in Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Current DBA certifications are a plus
