Job Summary
Provide top-level support for Solaris and Linux systems utilizing
Hitachi and Sun Enterprise Storage, being backed up in a Symantec
Netbackup environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the installation, configuration, and tuning
of Unix based application and web servers
• Provide technical support for san containing Hitachi/Sun
enterprise storage
• Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolutions In a
proactive manner
• Maintain Unix operating system patches and upgrades as
required
• Provide support after hours and weekends including being on
24 hour pager rotation
• Travel may be required to out-of-state data centers

Qualifications

• Well versed with Solaris 8/10 and Linux operating systems
utilities and commands.
• Fundamental understanding of Solaris 10 features such as
(SMF, ZFS and Dtrace)
• Fundamental knowledge of san protocols
• Familiarity with Hitachi 9900 and Sun 6100 Storage solutions
• Symantec software products (VCS, VxVM and Netbackup)
• Network support services (DNS, NTP, SMTP, SSH, LDAP, HTTP
and TCP/IP).
• Ability to write scripts in one of the following languages
(Perl, bash, sh)
• Hands on experience managing systems running Oracle or
equivalent RDBMS databases
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills: capable of
conveying ideas and applying knowledge to challenging tasks.
• Candidate should be open to new ideas, technologies and have
a strong desire to learn
• Works well in team oriented environment

Experience and Education

• 3+ years of systems administration experience within a
Solaris and Linux environment
• 2+ years of Tape backup methodologies and hands-on
experience with Symantec Netbackup, or other enterprise backup
systems.
• Hands on experience
• Bachelor degree in technical discipline or equivalent
working experience
