MANAGEMENT & REPORTING STRUCTURE


Reports to Director of Application Design, Development and Maintenance
in Information Services.




POSITION DESCRIPTION


Manage system analysis, design and development of systems. Ensure
standards, policies and procedures are followed. Schedule and develop
activities around application management. Research and correct system
problems. Interface with executive and senior management to identify
short/long range applications systems plans and prioritize according to
business needs.




PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


* Manage system analysis, design and development.
* Develop short/long range application systems plans consistent
with the needs and priorities of the business.
* Manage assigned projects and support functions for the
successful completion of development and modification projects on time
and within budgets.
* Work with executive and senior management to identify planning
and priorities.
* Partner with Business Partner Management in supporting business
needs.
* Provide consultation and support to customers in developing
local applications.
* Assist operations to develop system procedures.
* Ensure quality control of systems.
* Research and correct system problems.
* Assist programmers with development activities.
* Responsible for controlling some expenses within a department.
* Sets and communicates clear department goals and objectives with
entire subordinate team holding each Associate accountable to
individual
expectations
* Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates
assignments to Associates
* Provides guidance and manages the day-to-day development of each
Associate including effective on-boarding and on the job training
* Participates and completes the performance management and the
individual development planning process annually including a mid year
review
* Provides ongoing coaching and feedback to associates throughout
the performance management cycle
* Communicates and documents opportunities for development with
specific examples and action items
* Establishes and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work
plans and performance requirements
* Identifies department's skill gaps and staffing needs
* Responsible for the hiring and firing of associates
* Partner with HR Manager to develop job descriptions for new
positions
* Participates in the screening and interview process as well as
the negotiation and closing of offers
* Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.





PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS


* Bachelor's degree in computer science or technical discipline or
equivalent relevant experience.
* At least 4 years experience as an Application Development
Manager for Open Systems.
* 8 plus years experience including experience as a senior level
programmer/analyst, project design and operations.
* At least 5 years experience working on Unix and Microsoft
platforms.
* Experience in Lawson ERP (Unix), Middleware (MS Biztalk) & .NET
framework a definite asset.
* Ability to solve a variety of complex problems in the absence of
technical guidance or precedents.
* Ability to write standard technical documentation using
established formats.
* Ability to deliver informational speeches, reports, and
orientations before audiences and groups that include internal
associates.

* Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions of
potentially great significance to the company's future.
