Job description: Dynamic QA/Test Manager with strong technical background and excellent communication and leadership skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
**Define and lead the overall test strategy in cooperation with other key members of the Engineering organization
**Develop and execute test plans for product release cycles, following an Agile development process
**Assist in planning of product releases, including prioritization of issues and identifying and highlighting risk areas
**Plan and execute testing required for the Current Product Engineering function on already released products, delivering customer-driven fixes and enhancements
**Day-to-day management of QA/Test team, including planning, task assignment, and tracking
**Ensure build-out of test automation frameworks for both UI and back-end components
**Provide formal status reporting on issue status and defect trends
**Perform all personnel management functions for the QA/Test team, incl. staffing models, resource forecasting, hiring, skills development and training, and general career building and coaching
**Build strong working relationship between all functions inside and outside of Engineering, including Customer Support, Professional Services, Product Management, developers, Technical Publications, and senior management
**Other duties as assigned
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
**Previous experience (5+ years) in a technical manager role delivering enterprise software required, leading/managing 5-10 person teams or bigger
**Excellent communication skills across functional groups and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
**Experience with managing both local/on-site and remote/off-shore teams
**Ability to handle and quickly resolve multiple priorities, and to be effective in a dynamic and changing environment
**Experience with both formal waterfall and Agile development processes required
**Significant hands-on QA/testing experience incl. all types of testing, functional/regression, integration, system, etc., both black and gray box
**Significant hands-on QA/testing experience of both UI and APIs/backend components, manual as well as automated
**Significant hands-on experience with automated testing suites ** QuickTest Pro preferred
**Significant technical experience with web-based and multi-tier enterprise systems, built in both Java and C/C++ and on both Unix and Microsoft platforms
**Hands-on experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL and Oracle preferred
**Experience with administration of Unix and Windows server environments, incl. web, database, and email servers
**Strong hands-on experience with general networking technologies and protocols, incl. TCP/IP, SSL, SSH, HTTP(S), FTP, SMTP, etc.
**Strong network administration experience, incl. setup of routers, switches, proxies, etc.
**Proven leader who is pro-active, a fast learner and requires minimal supervision
**Minimum 7-10 years general industry experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
