Job Description – Software Engineer
Develop and debug NewsGator applications in C#, .Net, and SQL Server.
While the candidate may be responsible for overall system
architecture/design for a particular feature or capability, the
candidate should expect software coding to be the primary function of
this position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research, design, and develop new features for company core
products.
• Design technical specifications for assigned features and
architectural improvements. Candidate must be proficient in writing
use cases and other supplemental requirements specifications as
required.
• Review and hand-off technical designs to test engineers in an
effort
to ensure quality delivery of product. .
• Participate in code design and code reviews with appropriate team
members as necessary.
• Develop and deliver to aggressive product release schedules working
as a cooperative team member in an agile development environment.

Qualifications
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or
equivalent experience.
• Strong software engineering and problem solving skills.
• 5-7 solid years of professional experience developing applications
in .Net, C#, and C++.
• Experience developing multi-threaded applications and Windows
services is highly desired.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, and other communications protocols is
highly desired.
• Experience developing web-enabled/Internet-based applications is
mandatory.
• Experience developing JavaScript, DHTML and AJAX or JSON based
applications highly desired.
• Ability to work effectively with SQL Server is highly desired.
• Experience using Microsoft development technologies as an early
adopter is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into
technical designs.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to
meet critical project deadlines.
• Ability to take ownership of extensive development tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and get
along well with others.


Work Conditions
• Job location will be on-site at NewsGator facilities. We do not
currently support telecommuting arrangements.
• Normal business hours are 9-5. We are a fast moving, rapidly
growing company requiring extra effort when needed to meet aggressive
deadlines.

Job Description – QA – Entry to Junior Level
Ideal candidate will be passionate about Web 2.0 technology and look
forward to contributing to the development of NewsGator products.
Experience using many disparate social networking sites will provide
insights to not only test features but to recommend enhancements.
Candidate will write and maintain test plans and test cases to verify
application function. Candidate will be required to provide detailed
information for each defect, and log defects in the defect-tracking
database, providing detailed information on each defect in the process
of communicating the issue to development for resolution. Candidate
will provide testing support for multiple applications, and will be
required to test he applications on many operating system platforms,
and multiple browser and other software application configurations.
Candidate must be able to use analytical and problem solving skills to
contribute to the quality of the product throughout the development
lifecycle.

Responsibilities
• Participate in writing and maintaining software test plans.
• Create and maintain software test cases to verify proper
application
function. Test cases will exercise both positive and negative test
paths.
• Analyze and summarize software defects to create reports on product
status.
• Make recommendations to improve product function, reliability, and
quality.
• Make recommendations for improvement on Quality Assurance
processes,
practices, and procedures.
• Work independently, making sound technical decisions and completing
tasks and assignments with only general direction and guidance. Seek
assistance when needed.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, or equivalent experience.

• 1-3 years experience as a Software Test Engineer on web-based
applications.
• Experience testing user interfaces with some knowledge and exposure
to addressing human factors related issues.
• Proven understanding of software systems, software applications,
and
the process required in producing product deliverables
• Knowledge of testing methodologies and theories, test plan
development, test case design, test execution practices, data
collection and root cause analysis techniques, and reporting practices
• Demonstrated ability to develop solutions for a wide range of
difficult problems, under general direction.
• Ideal candidate is detail oriented and meticulous in testing
software, documenting results, and able to communicate how the issue
was created and how it can be re-created.
• Willingness to work in a start-up environment, which requires
commitment to deadlines and flexibility in accepting assignments.

Work Conditions
• Normal Job location will be on-site at NewsGator facilities.
• Normal working hours are 8-5.
• Overtime will be required as job responsibilities require.
