ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Monitor automated system alerts, log files, and other Data Warehouse monitoring tools.
o Troubleshoot and resolve DW scheduled job failures, striving to meet established SLA's.
o Research problem tickets to resolve data, setup, code issues, and implement processes to prevent repetitive issues.
o Provide detailed report of nightly activities, as well as communicate timely updates when there are issues with the Data Warehouse or Apollo scheduled jobs.
o Maintain and improve performance, reliability and monitoring of all Data Warehouse systems; applications including Ab Initio, Apollo, Maestro, customized open-source components (Apache / Tomcat) and other 3rd Party vendor applications.
o Interact with Tier I support, other Application Support teams, as well as Operations and Development groups.
o Work on projects to better improve Apollo and DW Support model.
o Cross train with members of the Business Intelligence Operations team to provide nightly support and perform production fixes to the Apollo application

REQUIREMENTS
o 2+ years experience in a Tier II Application Support role, or equivalent.
o 2+ years of Unix experience, including VI editor and basic OS command structures to navigate many distributed systems.
o Knowledge of Unix Awk, shell scripting
o 2+ years of experience with Oracle or a similar RDBMS and supporting environments for large databases.
o 3+ Years of SQL and a good understanding of Explain Plans and Oracle database hints for improving on the fly query performance while troubleshooting.
o Excellent diagnostic, debugging, and problem solving skills.
o 1+ years working with a batch-scheduling tool such as Maestro, Autosys, or Control M.
o Understanding of servers, networks, security, client/server model.
o Ability to communicate with various levels of technical experience
(developers/ operations/ end users/ support staff).
o Ability to work in team environment.
o Must be self-directed, proactive and action oriented.
o Familiarity with Windows and MS Office Suite.

DESIRED SKILLS:
o 4-year college degree in IS or related field.
o Development/ programming experience.
o Knowledge of ticket tracking systems such as Remedy.
o Experience with ETL languages such as PL/SQL, Informatica, Ab Initio, or Pro*C, as well as Oracle, Export/Import, and Toad or SQLPLUS within Data Warehouse production environments.
o Basic understanding of Data Warehouse architectures and concepts.
o Experience with BI Tools including MicroStrategy.
o Experience with Data Warehouse appliances including Netezza.

EDUCATION
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o The individual will be a member of the Data Warehouse team. This team is responsible for all development work, maintenance and 3rd tier support performed on the Data Warehouse.
o Design, develop and maintain several different load programs in various program languages (Ab Initio, SQR, PL/SQL). Ab Initio and PL/SQL is a must and SQR background is a plus.
o Works with business requirements analyst to identify and understand source data systems.
o Responsible for creating and maintaining standard development life cycle documentation as part of all development project tasks.
o Adapts ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements.
o Performance tune new/existing programs that load data into the data warehouse.
o Technical resource for the data warehouse and Business Analyst team.
o Work closely with other data warehouse team members and the internal architecture group to work through scalability issues, new sourcing architectures, and processing standards.
o Maps source system data to data warehouse models.
o Meets with DSS Data Modeler and DBA to review design strategies for new ETL processes.
o 1st Tier nightly support on-call rotation required of all DW ETL developers (~2 weeks daily once every other month).

REQUIREMENTS
o Minimum 2+ years proficient development background in one or more of the following ETL tools: Informatica, Ab Initio or Data Stage. Candidates with Ab Initio experience are preferred.
o Extensive Oracle 9i or 10g experience, specifically in the areas of
Partitioning, Index types, SQL*Loader and other Oracle storage parameters that are useful for loading and utilizing large databases.
o 3+ years experience working with relational databases.
o 3+ years of advanced SQL use (Correlated sub-queries, Unions, Minus, Outer/Inner Joins, Aggregate Functions, group by and having syntax). Must be able to read Oracle Explain plans and react to adverse performance plans accordingly.
o 1+ years experience with PL/SQL, Stored Procedures & Packages and DB triggers.
o 2+ years experience with an ETL development tool.
o 2+ years working on various types of Unix operating systems.
o Solid background in 3GL/4GL programming languages.
o Unit test skills along with good knowledge of unit testing techniques.
o Strong troubleshooting skills.
o Working knowledge of several partitioning concepts (Hash, Round-Robin, Range, etc.) and parallel processing depths.
o Experience working with data warehouses; understands data warehouse theory.
o Must be proficient in the Unix VI editor.
o Understands Unix File Systems, Mount Points, Directory Permissions, Soft & Hard file links
o Must have strong Unix shell scripting skills in (KSH, Bourne or CSH).
o Industry knowledge in marketing concepts such as closed loop sourcing, data augmentation from external sources, and campaign management processes is a big plus.
