TECHNICIANS
Description:
* Individual is a shift worker and reports to the associated shift
supervisor.
* Their primary functions are surveillance of the client network and
perform initial isolation of network problems.
* Technician will troubleshoot routine problems or events with little
or no technical assistance and will be able to identify issues that
require
immediate escalation.
* Understands the importance of event management and communicates
issues to the appropriate personnel.
Skill Set:
* Sufficient technical understanding of SONET ADM's, DWDM, and
Wavelength services.
* Familiar with environmental and power systems associated with the
facilities.
* Working knowledge of SDH and various ring configurations.
* Sufficient computer skills and able to use Performance Based Metrics
to manage the business.
* Working knowledge of vendor NMS's such as Alcatel 1353 SH, 1303 NMX,
Fujitsu Netsmart, Nortel INM/Preside, Ciena On-Center.
* Working knowledge of Clarify, Remedy, Excel, Brio.
* Knowledge in the areas of UNIX, TCP/IP, SS7, ATM, and ITU standards
are a plus.

* 2-3 years
