This is a full-time position based in Louisville, Colorado. The Quality Assurance/Business Analyst will report to the EDUCAUSE Manager, Web Development.
Description:
The Quality Assurance/Business Analyst is responsible for developing content such as release notes and feature sets of major milestone releases. This role works closely with the rest of the organization to refine new feature requests and define expectations for new development whether it's a new feature or integrating existing code and processes.
EDUCAUSE values a firm understanding of web software engineering techniques, quality assurance, requirement gathering, and user experience documentation. The opportunity exists for user training to ensure best practices are employed and adhered to even under tight timelines.
The ideal candidate will possess a general understanding of web development, preferably PHP, but other languages will be considered. He or she will have a working knowledge of how Drupal platform web applications operate in other environments and will have some exposure to testing tool suites such as Quick Test Pro. Other desired skills and experience include:
* User Experience exposure (UX); understanding of CSS, JavaScript and other UI elements
* HTML5, XHTML, and XML
* SCRUM/Agile Software Development Methodology
* Profiling and performance-tuning large, web-based applications
* Working knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and analytics
* Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, to adapt, and to develop skillsets quickly
* Strong understanding and appreciation of emerging trends in web technology (e.g., responsive design, web standards, mobile, usability, accessibility, etc.)
* Usage of web service APIs, HTML5 and mobile design principles
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills
* Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and project management tools (i.e., Atlassian Jira, Freshdesk, ZenDesk, etc.)
* Joomla, PHPNuke and WordPress are a plus or previous experience interacting with a web application authored in a language other than PHP
Requirements:
* 2+ years experience with Quality Assurance in functional and automated test environments
* Comfortable working with RDBMS, MySQL, and MSSQL preferred
* Familiarity with databases to configure test environments and defining test parameters
* Ability to think creatively and solve complex problems
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team as this role will be involved with requests made for engineering resources and working with the engineers following requirement gathering to ensure the developers understand what is being asked of the engineering team
