Job Description: We are looking for a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator with extensive experience in virtualized environments using VMware, RedHat Linux, and Solaris. The ideal candidate must also have experience with enterprise class SAN and storage equipment from vendors such as EMC, Hitachi, HP, IBM, and of course Brocade. This is an Operations role, and will require participation in the on-call rotation for after hours and weekend operational support.
Qualifications/Job Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide 24x7 Operational support for mission critical UNIX systems and associated storage in a high-availability environment
• Perform capacity planning, take action to avoid resource shortages
• Diagnose and resolve complex system problems
• Measure system performance and recommend and implement performance improvements
• Manage and schedule infrastructure changes and configurations
• Administer Puppet, LDAP, NIS, DNS, and NFS
• Administer jumpstart/kickstart servers and services
• Assist with backups of servers and storage using UNIX backup utilities such as NetBackup
• Anticipate, diagnose, troubleshoot and remediate performance-based issues on critical business systems

Education and Experience Required:
• 6 to 8 years’ experience performing enterprise level system administration in Solaris, Linux, and VMware environments
• Ability to create and present business cases for system requirements
• Strong project management skills and the ability to think analytically
• A fast learner, self-motivated individual with leadership skills who can work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to communicate well both orally and in writing, have people skills, patience, diplomacy, and tact
• Perform detailed server audits and make recommendations to management to improve service levels
• Hands on administration experience with enterprise UNIX operating systems, preferably Sun/Oracle Solaris, RedHat Linux, and VMware
• Hands on hardware administration experience with HP mid-tier X86 servers and C-class blades, and Sun/Oracle M and T class servers
• Experience in Storage Area Network design, deployment and support as well as enterprise level storage servers such as EMC, Hitachi, and Network Appliance
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking

Specialized Knowledge and Experience (Highly Desirable):
• Higher level scripting ability using Perl, Shell, Python, Ruby or similar
• Monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zenoss, Xymon
• Configuration management utilities such as Puppet, CFengine
