We are currently looking for a Database Administrator is accountable for all Microsoft SQL Server database schema designs, database implementation, and administration. The position is also responsible for reviewing and monitoring database applications & performance, support and troubleshooting, as well as working closely with staff and consultants associated with Colorado Access database operations. Administers and controls the Colorado Access data resources. Maintains data dictionary to ensure data integrity. Develops procedures for security and to recover corrupted data.



Responsibilities:

·         Participate in logical and physical database model designs and implement as required. Develop, implement, test and maintain T/SQL, PL/SQL, shell and utility scripts.

·         Investigate and resolve database issues by utilizing database monitoring, maintenance and performance tuning techniques. Research, test and implement MS SQL patches and upgrades as needed.

·         Instruct and assist development team in the use and application of database features and functionality, database design and suggested best practices for the SDLC process as it pertains to the database environment.

·         Demonstrate the ability to clearly understand user’s data needs and then identify how to best meet those needs with the database resources available.

·         Recommend and perform security enhancements of the database and data.

·         Responsible for establishing, promoting and maintaining database standards and procedures in conjunction with management.

·         Test and maintain reliable backup and restore processes and procedures. Test and maintain an efficient and workable disaster recovery process for the database platforms.

·         Collaborates with the Technical Services team in the maintenance and monitoring of Database and Systems infrastructure.

·         Participate as a member of an On Call rotation for multiple systems.

·         Able to respond to system outages during off-hours.

·         Able to work evenings and weekends when required.


Education, Technical Skills, and Training:

·         Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience and/or Certifications

·         Minimum of seven (7) years progressive database administrator experience required.

·         Experience with complex database management concepts in relevant database environments.

·         Strong practical experience with Microsoft SQL

·         Strong practical experience with SQL Server Integration Services and Replication is required

·         Experience with database development, implementation, and maintenance skills.

·         Knowledge of how to model and normalize data structures. Sound query and report writing skills.

·         Knowledge of Windows and Linux OS and storage subsystems.

·         Possess strong problem solving skills with a passion for excellence and a focus on creating a quality customer experience.

·         Solid teamwork, interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and ability to communicate with customers, associates, and senior executives.

·         Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

·         Knowledge of Oracle database management and administration a plus.

·         Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle Methodology concepts a plus.

·         Microsoft Certifications on Microsoft SQL 2005/2008 certifications a plus.
