EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Web Product Manager. EDUCAUSE websites (e.g., www.educause.edu, annual conference microsite, EDUCAUSE Review Online, and net.educause.edu) are, collectively, some of the most visible resources of the association. Together, they represent core business functions and are moving beyond being managed as projects; our websites are products that must continually improve.
The premise of our Web Product Manager role is to manage EDUCAUSE websites as products in their entirety. The role is cross-functional and bridges the gap between internal stakeholders and customers on one side, and the user experience, content delivery strategy, design, marketing and development team on the other. The Web Product Manager may not have deep technical experience in software architecture, information architecture, writing, or graphic design, but s/he collaborates with these internal and outsourced disciplines to create products that are useful. To do this well, the Web Product Manager must understand the customer base of EDUCAUSE websites, champion the end-to-end user experience, and own the websites' strategic roadmap.
